Replaced spark plug and.....
RIIIIIIING DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG *Turn off*
Revved to 7k on idle and would not go higher.
Turns out I'd not put the needle right in the carb and it was leavin the main jet open =)
Sorted and idles sweetly, Starts first time in the snow ^.^
Jobs that need doing are:
footrest bar that goes under engine is snapped and wobbles, When you press on the right peg, it hits the rear brake lever and ALWAYS catches you off guard
Rear indicators do not work
Front indicators arent even there!
Front tyre is perished but stealing the front one from my CG as the tread pattern is similar
Rear wheel needs re-aligning
After that, It's general TLC =) Not bad for £100 with 8 months mot and 6 months tax =P ____________________ Riding: Yamaha RXS100

Stop tinkering with the carb. Adjustment is only very rarely necessary. Never fiddle with the needle settings/jetting/float height. Always make sure the cable is properly routed/lubed/not frayed.
Always have a supply of plastics and breakable bits
Never put an expansion chamber pipe on an RXS. You should be able to get 75 on the original with just Hy-Tech reeds, if the motor is in good nick. That should be enough for anyone (on a 100). ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

The RXS runs best on the original pipe. There's nothing to be gained by adding an expansion chamber pipe. The RXS is one of the very few small two strokes that sounds like something other than a bee in a tin can - thanks to its standard pipe
Always take considerable care when dismantling small parts. I would recommend going back to using your old carb - just replace the bit you lost with the bit from the new one. Sounds like the one you bought has issues. ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

Right, Got new brake lever assembly, Nipped up all the bolts, Fitted new tail light assembly and took her for a spin after sorting the carb out... Gorgeous bike and nippy between 5-8k revs, Got 70mph out of it, But just barely...
Then after 5 minutes, It started to bog and eventually died as if running out of fuel (Only had half a litre above reserve so this sounded right at the time)
Poured 4 and a half litres in and she'll idle sweetly, But wont if I even SLIGHTLY turn the throttle, it dies.
My mum who was following when it broke down said about a minute before it cut out, It was chucking a LOT of blue smoke out the back.
Plug is black on half the core and on the tip, but the other half facing the exhaust is fairly clean (It's a new plug... Only done 8 miles on it)
Anyone got any ideas? If I put the choke on, It'll rev with dead-spots, but wont idle... I'm stuck! ____________________ Riding: Yamaha RXS100
