My RXS100 isnt running, Has crisp spark when plug is outside of engine, But I cant tell when it's inside.
Fresh fuel is getting to it, Carb is fresh and clean and also there is LOADS of compression.
Kickstart or bump start, No backfires or any sign of life.
Can anyone help?

Replaced spark plug and.....

RIIIIIIING DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG *Turn off*
Revved to 7k on idle and would not go higher.
Turns out I'd not put the needle right in the carb and it was leavin the main jet open =)
Sorted and idles sweetly, Starts first time in the snow ^.^

Jobs that need doing are:
footrest bar that goes under engine is snapped and wobbles, When you press on the right peg, it hits the rear brake lever and ALWAYS catches you off guard
Rear indicators do not work
Front indicators arent even there! Laughing
Front tyre is perished but stealing the front one from my CG as the tread pattern is similar
Rear wheel needs re-aligning

After that, It's general TLC =) Not bad for £100 with 8 months mot and 6 months tax =P

Foot rest bracket needs sorting =(
Got myself some new indicators too =P Some of those micro oval ones for road use.
My mum wants me to take it to the garage to have them fitted as well as an electrical check cause she's paranoid =/ More money down the drain...
Also got a brand new filter element and runs even better =)
Some sweet pull at 6k revs!!!!
I wouldnt mind taking this thing down a long road and giving it a nice high speed run =P

Good news... and bad news...
Good news is, I've got a new carb for her. Also got new fuel lines and fuel filter =)
tank has been flushed, and a shot of redex in the new fuel.
Now, Heres the bad news....

Kicked it over, And wouldnt start... Kicked over more, And wouldnt start.
In the end we decided to bump start it.
Bump starting and half way down the hill, It kicks into life........
WITH FULL THROTTLE STUCK ON IN THE POWERBAND...
The bike inevitably flipped and crashed to the ground =(
Somehow... The only damage is the front brake lever has snapped, And the tail light assembly is broken =)

Every time I go to ride it, Something happens =(
Wish me luck for tomorrow =)

I think I still have the tail light and the brake lever. If you want them, PM me.

Stop tinkering with the carb. Adjustment is only very rarely necessary. Never fiddle with the needle settings/jetting/float height. Always make sure the cable is properly routed/lubed/not frayed.

Always have a supply of plastics and breakable bits Wink

Never put an expansion chamber pipe on an RXS. You should be able to get 75 on the original with just Hy-Tech reeds, if the motor is in good nick. That should be enough for anyone (on a 100).

Why no spanny? =( Does it make it practically unrideable on the road?
Also, I havent tinkered with the carb =( My old one needed cleaning, Took it apart and lost the needle valve so I fitted a spare carb to it =) all the same settings =P

The RXS runs best on the original pipe. There's nothing to be gained by adding an expansion chamber pipe. The RXS is one of the very few small two strokes that sounds like something other than a bee in a tin can - thanks to its standard pipe Wink

Always take considerable care when dismantling small parts. I would recommend going back to using your old carb - just replace the bit you lost with the bit from the new one. Sounds like the one you bought has issues.

Wasn't that, I left my mate to put the carb back on as he's a fairly competent mechanic, Turns out he'd put the throttle bit in wrong so it sat on TOP of the idle screw... =/

And going by sheer physics, How is an expansion chamber not beneficial?
The standard pipe is far from optimised

Put it this way, the possible benefit of fitting an expansion chamber (slight increase in go) is far outweighed by the down sides (sounds shit, looks silly on a commuter bike, reduced fuel economy, reduced reliability).

I speak from experience, having once been left with no choice but to use a Micron pipe.

Right, Got new brake lever assembly, Nipped up all the bolts, Fitted new tail light assembly and took her for a spin after sorting the carb out... Gorgeous bike and nippy between 5-8k revs, Got 70mph out of it, But just barely...
Then after 5 minutes, It started to bog and eventually died as if running out of fuel (Only had half a litre above reserve so this sounded right at the time)
Poured 4 and a half litres in and she'll idle sweetly, But wont if I even SLIGHTLY turn the throttle, it dies.

My mum who was following when it broke down said about a minute before it cut out, It was chucking a LOT of blue smoke out the back.
Plug is black on half the core and on the tip, but the other half facing the exhaust is fairly clean (It's a new plug... Only done 8 miles on it)
Anyone got any ideas? If I put the choke on, It'll rev with dead-spots, but wont idle... I'm stuck!
