So the summer is fast approaching - my track bone is tingling. Wink

Might be a bit early for a thread - but as funds are tight this year, this will be my first trackday of 2010. The reason being that my brother turns 18 on the 21st of May - and hence his Race Licence allows him to come on track with me and my old man.

Me = Inters I reckon

Dad/Bro = Novice probably

Our weapons of choice will be as below:

Mine -

Me old mans -

My brothers -

(Unfort cant find a pic of him on his actual bike, which is more of a bodge job - picked it up for 400 quid, it's done 3 trackdays so far Cool - tis a KR1 with S pipes)

Who's game?

EDIT: Just realised - pre-2000 bikes ftfw!

Have you ridden Cadwell before? Awesome track, very tight and hard to master! I've done Cadwell about 5 or 6 times now, the open pit lane days there are best, but they dont like first timers on there.

I'll have a look at booking closer to the time. Picking up my latest track hack this coming weekend hopefully.

Thumbs Up

Nopes, not yet - had to wait until my restriction period was up (February last year!!) and then never got around to it because of europe last year.

OOH - track hack. What happened to the (10r?? lol) other bike? What you getting?

Been to watch a few times, BSB etc - was there on Saturday taking some pictures of a random trackday. Seems the BBC was there to follow a kid who's gonna be in the Triumph Triple Challenge - he's the year below me, so 20 I think. Strangely - very small world. He went to school/sixth form with my ex-gf, and some of my friends - and another friend of me and my brother called Adam Shelton is also gonna be racing in the T3 challenge - was also there watching. Unfortunately he has lost his main sponsor - which sucks - he placed 2nd in his last Triumph Race and fastest lap at Cadwell.

If anyone knows any big companies that are remotely interested in sponsoring young talent - please PM me. Thumbs Up Karma

I've gone all bikey misty eyed now. I need a thrill. Laughing

Get on the trackday Clanger Thumbs Up

Hmm, if I remember right, you can knee down and wheelie pretty well yeah?

I know these arent anything about track, but tells me you have some confidence in her - would probably book Intermediates.

Im not the fastest road rider because I hold myself back a little (well, compared to my mates, normal riders would probs still think Im a penis Laughing ) but Im safe on road. On track, I was so much faster, just from not holding back.

My first trackday I was lapping a lot of Novices, and the subsequent intermediate trackdays were much better, as I had something to improve against. Thumbs Up

Booked into novice, Tom will be coming down with me in a van.

Bit unsure as to whether novice is right because we're both fairly rapid on the road, but as said it will be our first trackday.

You will be fine in that group. Cadwell is one of the toughest tracks to learn in the UK in my opinion. You can always swap in the afternoon if you are really being held up. Wink

Quite tempted by this, but I wanted to kick my season off at Brands, I will have a think.

Cool. If you're in novice its not the worst thing, you just hold back until youve got a clear track in front of you, or you over take to make sure youve got clear track.

The main problem is people that dont have much of a clue about riding, let alone riding lines etc (not saying they shouldnt be there, as I believe biking to be one of the best cost effective means of enjoyment on earth) they just tend to get in the way a bit. Mind you, I'll probably be in the way for faster riders too.

Once Ive got it booked I'll have to start getting the zx6 sorted - knackered clutch, leaking fork seal, no chain, battered about, weak brakes... Laughing

As Mark says, we're both pretty competent riders. But I don't think there will be much problem with us being in novice to begin with.

I'll be on this, so if you see me, say 'ello Smile

Not really been out since moving it. It's plenty visable from the rear though (7x5) so touch wood it'll be fine.

Just need to sort out new chain and sprockets, buy some tyres for the day and all is well Very Happy

If you dont use it for the road much - a pair of Metzler Rennsports (pre-Racetechs I believe) will set you back about 150 a pair - and are fuckin' fantastic grip. Pretty much a pair of semi-slicks, no tread for about 2 inches on either side of the tyre Laughing

Thumbs Up
