Me and some friends are looking at going to scotland for a week.(unfortunately not via motorbike). We are looking at staying in a cottage somewhere decent in scotland. Can anyone recommend a cottage or accommodation for 4 people, and any recommendations on where in scotland is a good place to stay for a week?
Thankyou
Any help is appreciated.

What are you hoping to do when you are up there?

Quad biking, some walking, swimming in a river/loch, exploring etc, but would also like to be fairly near to a town or village.

Carlisle is about as north as you'd want to stay in the UK. Thumbs Up

There used to be an Activity Centre at Kenmore on Loch Tay where you could do most of the stuff you want to do, but the village is quiet. Aberfeldy is near by and that's a lovely spot - you can even go whiskey tasting IIRC!!

Alternatively, you could go central with Fort William - it's a much bigger place, but still you can sort out activities etc.

That's the only side of Scotland I know having lived up there, but I'm sure if you ask others (Stinkwheel, Wishaykillie) they can give you much better info.

https://www.rafting.co.uk/orchy.htm

^^^Try this link, Ive done it before and it was amazing! I cant remember the names of the other places that do it but there is a few. The rafting depends on weather conditions and the depth of the water. I`ve rafted a few times over the years and if the water is too shallow to raft, they offered us alternative stuff to do like dive bombing off the rock faces into the river pools and rope swing things that you go on and jump into the water. (Im not sure if it was this actual company that offered us this,as ive used a few, so you will need to ask) ...
Look at this...
https://www.welcometoscotland.com/accommodation/hostels-and-bunkhouses/loch-lomond-stirling/loch-tay-highland-lodges-teepees

You can stay in these teepees and I think they house about 8 folk, I havent used them but Ive heard many good reports. Plenty to do about there but i would think twice about the swimming in the loch.
Now, if your planning on going for a swim, I would try the rafting first as you will have an idea of how (body shockingly) cold the water is, as they make you jump in to get an idea, although you do have the guides with you as well.
Superb part of the country.
Thumbs Up

I'd go with Tonka's suggestion of somewhere round Fort William. It's a good base to go exploring, from the beaches of the Western Isles to Glen Coe.
Just outside Fort William up towards Spean Bridge and Roy Bridge there are an abundance of self catering cottages. Not mutch in the way of nightlife from what I can remember but it's not that far into Fort William.

I dont know what the set of 4 mates is. If it's 2 couples then try this place just outside Spean Bridge Thumbs Up Personal recommendation.

What time of year are you going up?

As for swimming in a Loch, go for it, I used to do it all the time as a kid when my mum and dad used to take us to stay up in Glen Nevis in the summer Very Happy

When you are up for the week make an effort to try and go on a whisky distillery tour.

Found this as well. I couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called. I've stayed here before and it is in a fairly central location between Loch Ness and Fort William. The lodges are right on the edge of Loch Lochy, it's a fantastic setting. I'm sure the couple that run it also allow you to hire a out a small outboard boat to explore the loch in.
You can take your dog too if you have one. I might be taking mine this summer hopefully.

I got a handjob in the gondola Cool

Fresh water swimming is so much nicer than the sea - used to live on the Loch side and regularly swam regardless of the temperature. Those Lochs are deep and that water can get seriously cold, but it's so clean and lovely you hardly notice.............honest!! Shocked

It is rather "refreshing" to say the least. I do notice the cold as certain "bits" of my anatomy disappear Embarassed .
Might try it if I go up North for the weekend this summer, see if Norman will rescue me Laughing I doubt it though the little shit.
