Just after a bit of advice really, i will obviously ring the insurance company tomorrow to see what they say.
A few weeks ago my bike was stolent, got the claim in motion and they were fairly quick with starting the payout procedure.
Got a letter from them asking for V5, purchase receipt, settlement figure (bought on finance), keys, sercice history etc etc. One thing they requested was a copy of my license (well, the last person to use the bike before it was stolen).
Now, on the 19th on feb i went to court and got a 6 month ban (for speeding, harsh bastards but we'll leave that for another day) so obviously they kept my license there and then.
What should i say to the insurance company regarding my license? I know it looks dodgey in regards to my bike gets stolen then 2 weeks later i get banned but i can honestly say that i aren't the sort of person to scam an insurance company.
While we are on the topic of licenses, i obviously gave the court usher my photo card and counterpart, the magistrates didn't say anything about me not producing my license but i recently got a letter from DVLA saying that i didn't produce both parts of my license...WTF of course i did. Will give them a buzz tomorrow aswell, useless gits. ____________________ It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it's bloody hilarious!!!

You should have told your insurance company when you got banned. |

If you have a copy of the license you had before you surrendered it - send them that!
If you didn't make a copy you are leaving yourself open to DVLA losing your bike entitlements so you should have scanned it anyway. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

For fucks sake, can you not read?
I'm not the sort of person to try and do an insurance scam. Why would i want to put yet another claim on my insurance (already got a bike claim from june 08 and my car is in the garage being repaired). It would cost me more over the next 5 years then the bike is worth
If you haven't got anything useful to add to this thread then fuck off and post elsewhere. ____________________ It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it's bloody hilarious!!! |

if it helps my mate got asked for the same thing when his bike set itself alight. He got worried as he had 3 points he hadnt declared so he just sent everything except his licence. they asked a couple of times then just paid out without seeing it anyway. ____________________ Current : '08 Yamaha FZ1s

right..
your insurance isnt invalid just because you've been banned (afaik) its just you arent allowed to ride it.
yes they may try to weasel out of it as you didnt immediately tell them the condition if your licence but it was stolen before this happened anyway if what you say is correct.
if this is the case at the time of the theft your licence was in order and everything was as the insurance company had on its records.
it 'may' turn into a bit of a ballache but im sure they'll honour it eventually. (if they even do make an issue out of it as, as said, your licence was in order at the time it was stolen)
