Best Naked 6 for first 'Real' Bike

Again, looking around at bikes. Definitely sticking with nakeds, i love how they look, and its weird having a fairing infront of me.

Looked at -

Z750 - Great riding position, feels just like my bike, aggressive looks too, but basic for the price. Insurance is also high

07 onwards Hornet - Definitely felt comfortable to sit on, felt quite low, could almost get both feet down flat, stylings quite nice, has the power and extra's such as ABS and HISS, nice modding scene to them too, would probably do a few things. Insurance isnt too bad

XJ6 - Felt very heavy, and i dont really like the styling

GSR - Like the look of it, sounds similar to the Hornet with the GSX-R engine, havent sat on one though

ER6F - Felt quite nice, not too heavy, but did feel massive

SV650 - Might not have been stock, but the bars felt pretty low, and the bike was very high (struggled to get my leg over the seat cowl)

Been looking at mainly new bikes, would get one new or nearly new (New mainly for 0% APR....) and it would need to be restricted. Just wondering what peoples experiences with them are, restricted speeds/acceleration would be fantastic (Need to keep up with them bloody RS125 Rattle Cans)

If insurance is a problem, get a 500. Restricted it will be the same power as a 600/750 anyway.
Of the bikes you've mentioned i agree that the ER6 is a bit big, and the SV650 possibly a little too sporty for some peoples tastes though they are very good bikes. Can't go wrong with a hornet

Er6 isnt big

You missed out fz6- n. I had one as a first big bike loved it.

If you do go for a hornet though earlier ones are the sex with a few mods !

I Don't really like any 500's, they all seem too plain jane for me. Same with the hornet, i just don't like them as much as the newer ones.

Coming for a 50 naked, all these bikes feel big, but the ER6 feels massive, especially the half-faired version.

Dont know what they would be like restricted but you never know the restrictors will probably just fall out anyway

Street Triple is like a dream bike for me, i want to get the Street Triple R, i dont wanna ruin it by owning it restricted. Havent really looked at the Duke, is kinda girly for some reason, but i love the sudden ending seat.

I'm 5' 8 " and I ride an SV 1000 S, never had a problem throwing my leg over it to get on, so that 650 must have been really jacked up ...

Hornet from me.

Don't bother with such nanny aids as ABS though, not worth becoming reliant on them when most bikes don't have them.

If you want any absence of fun from your ride also consider the CBF600....

Looked around, and basically dont think my budget is gonna stretch above £2,000, and then it has to be insured.

So, been looking at Hornets, anything pre 2007 really, obviously the 2006 models are the best, but still commanding £3,000, so not as good. During my searches, i have however found one Hornet 250, its about an hour drive from me, Silver, small scuff on right of tank and engine casing, and dual carbon exhausts. Not absolute mint, but Downpipes etc all look good, just looks like it could do with a good clean and some TLC. The guy said he'd let it go for £1100, and i've checked, the insurance is £300 fully comp...

Whats your opinions? I'd probably only keep it for the 2 years, then get an urestricted 600. Seems senseless to get the Hornet 600 when its gonna be restricted to the same power, and just be heavier and more to insure. Obviously parts are the only worry as its a grey bike.

MT-03 - This has quit a low seat and good riding position.

I have got a SV650N K1 and am very pleased with it. The ex who was 5ft 4ish chould just about get his feet on the ground.
