I would also agree with the scooter / car comments and yet I can't help but feel if I had your bike as well I would absolutely love riding it around town.
Anyway, as my sig says I will never, ever give up my CG. This is because it is a fantastic bike around town. So what I'm saying is basically; why not have two bikes? Scooters can't be that much to insure
(oh, and G, that is totally sigged. Only someone as hardcore as you could simply use their GSXR "as a moped" ) ____________________ will never give up his CG. I look at my fuel gauge more as a progress bar than a fuel gauge.
G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.
ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston? |

Try an sv650, or a Honda Bros 400 / 650. Both are very good round town bikes, torquey. Or you say you like singles, how about MT-03 / XT660 (I think they are the same engine).
I have been told to avoid the latter after the sv because they are a bit gutless. But it might suit your needs.
Get out and do some test rides. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

A Versys would meet the requirement you listed, you might want to invest in some slippers and a new pipe, grandad ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.
Skudd:- Perhaps she just thinks you are a window licker and is being nice just in case she becomes another Jill Dando.
WANTED:- Fujinon (Fuji) M42 (Screw on) lenses, let me know if you have anything. |

jontifosi, really sorry to hear about your issues with the Daytona. I hear a lot of bad things about this bike and town riding is just one of them. Apparently you have to be very careful on these bikes as they can also fall apart very quickly and rust terribly as soon as they get wet!
Parts are a nightmare to get hold of, and their value plummets very quickly the older they get.
Tell you what though, just thinking about it - I just so happen to ride a single cylinder Honda SLR650 at the moment. It's a lovely bike, runs beautifully, is in (3rd hand) showroom condition and attracts all kinds of upmarket clientelle - so it holds its value really well. In fact I'd be shocked if it isn't worth more now than it was new!
Now I'm a generous kind of guy, bit of a thrill seeker and I like the odd risk taking. So I tell you what I'll do... I'll swap bikes with you. Yeah, I know you probably won't believe me, but it's true. I'd be prepared to do this but only if your Daytona is in as good a nick (preferrable better) as my bike. Let me know when you want to swap and I'll see what I can do. ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.
(7 year gap), BMW F650 (Relaxing ride). Aprilia Caponord ETV1000 (Big and bold). Yamaha FZS600 (got me in trouble too quick!).
Current: Yamaha TDM 900 (Comfy, light but big, power when needed). |

Actually while i was out today, in the dry weather it was rather fun. But still fancy soemthing a bit retro and more comfy. |
