So it was a nice sunny day decided to try to start the Bandit for a ride (first time since October, Battery has been on trickle charge). I put the key in the ignition and pressed the starter - nothing happened. Weird thinks I, should at least make a noise or something, headlight looks bright enough. I then start faffing about with the sidestand, and still nothing.
Then the penny drops - forgot to pull in the clutch duh!!!!.
Only had the bike 3 years, but my excuse is that this is the longest I've left it over winter

I'll share something with you... I'm on Poole ferry, still sat on my bike (engine off) Ferry reaches land, ramps go down and my fellow bike mates ride off the ferry. Leaving me still trying to start my bike.... I'm pushing the start button again and again, clutch in. Won't start... so I paddle off the ferry (looking a right twat)
..... I hadn't turned the ignition on

Never admitted that to my mates who I was with (one of which was my other half) Who wondered where the hell I'd gone! Ssshhhh.....

I'm often forgetting to check the kill switch, even tried kickstarting before I noticed it.

As I've mentioned before I once tried to hill start my first bike down a very, very steep hill. I reckon I got to about 30MPH and when I released the clutch I got my engine spinning so fast that the petrol did actually start to ignite.

Then at lower revs it died again as I was braking before the bottom of the hill. Then I pushed the bike all the way back up to the top of the hill

How was I supposed to know what a big red engine kill switch on my handle bars did?

will never give up his CG. I look at my fuel gauge more as a progress bar than a fuel gauge.
G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.

When I was learning to ride, we were using some CG125s that had just come back off a lesson. So I hopped on one, started it and away we went (me, another learner but no instructor as there wasn't one available). We must have only gotten 1 mile or so along the road and my bike cuts out. So we try all ways to start it, then luckily the other learner (who knew more about bikes than me at the time) notices the fuel tap is turned off. D'OH!!

Lost count of how many times I've ridden off on the VFR with the fuel tap off.

have lost count the number of times now I've ridden off on the old bike and forgotten about the side-stand It doesn't help I have two right hand turns before I get to the main road so often don't notice it till then.

On more than one occasions I've fired the bike up, kitted myself up, swung my leg over the seat, blipped the throttle a couple of times, clutch in, select first and... *clunk*... engine dies. Bastard side stand!

I then look like a complete burk whilst I fire it back up again!

Guys in work though it would be funny to disconnect the clutch lever switch thing..

Then at midnight jump on bike hit button nothing, check lights all ok, stand up, kill switch is ok...

I had to walk 5 miles home in my bloody bike gear only to to be told the next day how funny they all thought it was...
