Yamaha FZR, Honda CBR, Suzuki RF - Decided!

These are all bikes that I'm considering for my first big bike. I really like the look of the FZR, especially with the foxeye lights, the CBR looks good too, the RF maybe not as good looking, but it looks like a good bike for longer journeys etc...

Bike would be used to commute to work (not very far), touring hopefully (with girlfriend on back) and just riding for fun.

All are nice the RF was a bit dated when it was released which is why it was removed from the line up I guess still a good bike though. If they're all the same price see if you can get a test ride on 'em all. Have to say that FZR is gorgeous in those colours looks in mint condition as well.

I can't do anything till I've sold my car unfortunately, oh and passed my test Mod 1 is next Sunday and mod 2 hopefully straight after that.

I've seen quite a few nice CBR's for just over £1k, ranging from 21k to 34k miles. Just seen a Thundercat as well which seems like a decent bike?

Personally i would buy the CBR as i have always wanted a jellymould one but got a blade instead.They handle very well and were a very successful club racing bike back in the day.

Anyone know whether the FZR600 body work is the same as the YZF750's? They look identical....

Different,
Yzf ones can be made to fit, but the bellypan and side sections of fairings are different, check some pictures

as you can see the bellypan joins alot higher up on the yzf, and if i remember right is more on a slant to the fzr belly.

I will always swear by the rf600. They are very comfy bikes. The only downside is the front brakes, which didn't inspire confidence at speed on either of mine.

I've had the fzr and ridden the cbr. I found the cbr a bit bland, and the fzr really skinny.

What's your budget?

'99 and onwards CBR6f's can be had from as low as £1500 these days. Much nicer than the older jellymould cbrs imo. But ofcourse I'm biased.

Just got my back together and fired up today for the first time in 5+ months. God it feels good to have an engine between your legs

+1 for an old CBR600F, something like an FX or FW or FY. Similar to this except not crashed...

My CBR6 had 7k miles when I bought it, had never been serviced or had an oil change, had been kept outdoor, had no history etc etc. I ran it up to 14k miles on the same oil it had when it came and the only mechanical trouble I had was when it needed a new CCT. Fantastic bike, great fun, hard as nails and I'd definately have another!

What would you say it's worth?
