well my cousin has a 2003 yamaha r1. we always have arguments and he seems to think the r1 is the be all end all of bikes. he says its more 'racing inspired' than CBR's. he think his bike is 100x better than my 954rr in every aspect, handling, speed, and comfort. im so sick of arguing with this kid. is anything he says true? can some of you gimme some info to throw at him to shut him up? |

Who cares..
all bikes are different, have different positives and negatives and it comes down to what each individual likes..
stop arguing and start riding ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

If its the best bike in the world how come it dosent make up 100% of bike sales?
Would you try rideing one through the gobi desert if you had a bmw RG?
Would your ride one accross america if you were offered a goldwing instead?
If your a courier in london?
If you can't afford the serviceing costs of a modern bike?
Its an excelent piece of engineering but its simply not possible for there to be a "perfect" or best bike. Anyone who claims otherwise is a bit of a tard tbh ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Do you find when you twist your right hand all the cars and vehicles become a sort of long streak of colours?
Personally with all the bikes I have owned, my favorite in my small amount of time on it, is the R1.
However, having not ridden the 954rr, I can not comment on which is better.
Maybe the R1 thrives on its reputation?
I have heard the latest R1 power delivery is not too clever, seems to have lost its low down grunt and has a lot more of a pow! power band.... Only heard that though, I have not verified it. ____________________ Mr Pants! (Alex or Al)

The way I see it:
Litre class bikes allow you to be lazy on the road.
I like having the instant 'go' anywhere and everywhere.
As a road bike for going fast for people that don't want to bother with putting a lot of effort in, they are great.
If I wasn't so worried about my licence I'd happily take one as a fun road bike (and did a while ago).
For actually developing your riding or properly pushing a bike, I would say they aren't so great. The amount and range of power does mean that you can be lazy, especially when riding with smaller bikes. While other bikes may be braking late and trying to keep up corner speed, it the litre bikes can just wait untill their upright after the corner and crack the throttle.
To really use the potential of a litre bikes does take a lot skill; definitely more than a smaller bike. However a lot of owners don't seem to get to that point (I know I didn't)
As to which is best... As others have said, why exactly does it matter?
Go do a few track days, then invite him on one. It'll make you feel all the better when you shoot past him that you're on the 'inferiour' bike .
And MrC...
The R1s can go round corners fast as well though . |

I hear the ZX12 is the most uncomfortable bike ever.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |
