Keeping A Bike Outside

Going to be getting my bike on Friday and unfortunately because there are already 2 bikes in the garage, mine has been neglected and has to be kept outside. Obviously I want to keep it in the best condition possible so will be wanting a good cover - My step dad has some sort of canvas one which he's had for 15years or so, not too sure how good that would be though

Is there any other tricks apart a cover to keep a bike in good condition when leaving it outside?

You wanna WD40 all the grime etc off it. Wash it all down, then apply some ACF50.

Its an anti corrosion spray which should keep it from rusting.

I did it today. Have a search for ACF50 on here, loads of good things said about it.

One good trick is to buy motorcycles made by mr Honda. Seems to work with the 90s bikes I normally own anyway.

My CBR600 spent the whole of last winter outside without a cover with no ill effects. My XT350 is holding up ok this year but I spray it with WD40 from time to time.

Mine live outside without too much problem. As mentioned, my greatest concern is security.

The Oxford covers I use don't keep out all the weather, but keep the bikes concealed from prying eyes somewhat. I've only got two outdoor covers though, so a couple of bikes go without, exposed to all weathers. Don't seem to be corroding much, although bird crap's sometimes a problem.

I've kept my last 3 bikes outside (although I do dream of owning a garage!) I've always used the more expensive Oxford covers. Just got a new Rainex to replace the previous Oxford Rainex (needed a bigger cover as opposed to it wearing out).

The Rainex and presumably their more expensive Stormex are all that I've ever needed in that they are thick, waterproof and the previous one lasted pretty well. I should also say that in the past I've also tried the cheaper Oxford covers (circa £25) and they were shite, light weight and leaked!

To avoid corrosion I always give the bike a quick wipe down with a WD40 soaked rag and a couple of times a year use some ACF50. Never had an issue with rust
