Spark plug cap stuck

Yet again there's another problem I've come across I can't seem to solve. When removing the old spark plug to replace the new one the end cap on the old one managed to get stuck inside the boot shape connector which I can not get out.
I've tried to thread it back in and pull it out but its just not gripping so then I tried putting a touch of superglue on the spark plug and tried pulling it out again and no successs.
Looked online and someone suggested on another forum to use a wire hanger to put through the cap and try pulling it out but it just doesn't want to come free.

Just buy a new HT lead cap,they are a few quid.

the boot thing is the HT cap

buy a new one and you will be fine as there only a few quid


they should be changed every few yrs ideally.

ps check weather it needs the top of the plug removing as most do before fitting to the plug.

ask at the shop if your unsure

You sure that cap actually uses the screw-on bit? My guess would be you throw that part in the bin to use the plug with the type of cap you have.

im sure it uses it since its the same spark plug and that cap simply goes over the top of the plug so need to get it out, i'll give it a few more attempts before I call it a day and buy a new cap.

Before I remove it at the end of the night and risk damaging anything else, how do you take it off. Do you simply pull the black wire out of that cap or do you need to twist it or something.

Cap unscrews from the cable.

do yourself a favour and try the new plug in the cap without it's little metal hat on. You might find the cap is designed to grip the threaded section.

Well Finpos I did what you said and with a slight bit of force I got it in however soon as I pushed in the lead to put it back on the engine the HT lead snapped right at the end.... possibly from corrosion or most likely from me being a bit too hasty getting it on.
I looked at the CDI coil from where it snapped at it says its a Ducati energia with the number: 323990 10 00 7
I'm wondering if this CDI coil now needs replacing or I can simply but a new HT lead like this one: https://beedspeed.com/product_info.php?cPath=76_90_179&products_id=4601

I'm pretty sure with that type of ignitor (it's a cdi and a coil in the same package) you can re-connect the HT lead. Pull off the dust boot from wherever you managed to tear the HT lead from (top right on the photo), you should find a hole the diameter of the HT lead with a sharp screw in the middle. The screw is actually where the spark comes from. Cut off the torn end of the lead so it's straight and screw it into the hole and onto the screw, it's designed so the screw will go into the center of the lead and make contact with the copper core. Don't forget the dust boot!

The terminals on the Coil are labelled -
AT = Alta Tensione (High Tension)
Verde - green
Bianco - white
rosso - red
stop - err... stop (killswitch)

Standard fitting to every small Italian thing from about the 70's!

Quite obviously you've cost yourself god knows how much cash, hassle and time when you needed to......

.... unscrew the adapter from the top of the new plug - job done
