Don't know if this has already been posted but today is the last day to sign up to reverse the 2p duty imposed in January.
It's gone up to 115.9p a litre today!!!!!

Ironic.
Petitions are so they can read, and then simply 'laugh' how many people are willing to sign a redundant form, and roll over under the illusion they are sticking it to the man. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. The problem is that although most of you are right in saying that an online petition won't change anything, the reason is there's never enough people signing them.
The current one is the highest number of signatories to it, 153 thou or something, which is a lot of people, but still a relatively small percentage of the UK. If everyone who is pissed off with paying through the nose for fuel signed it - which is going to be a lot more than 153k - then it does two things; one is to let the government know that a serious amount of people are getting pissed, which *does* make a difference, and two it lets the protestors know that they have a lot of backing, which might then be mobilised in future, such as blockades and boycotts, etc.
I think Britain has pretty much lost its spine nowadays. We're losing our liberties every day in the name of the bogus war on terror, we're treated like imbeciles in the name of health and safety, the banks are taking our money and funneling to the elites, and we're taxed left right and centre through more and more dubious revenues like fuel tax.
And what do we do? Sigh, and say nothing can be done. And unfortunately that's exactly what happens. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
As BanditJeff points out, at least the French still have the balls to actually do stuff when their government gets out of line, whereas here we're all too apathetic to do fuck all about anything important.
Just for the record, I signed it, whatever good it does or doesn't do. I also email my local MP at least once a week asking why the cost of fuel isn't reduced, not just in the interests of the motorist, but for the economy as well, as almost everything you buy is more and more expensive because it's had to travel to get to you.
It's not much, but there's at least one MP in the commons who knows how much this is grinding the average guy in the street (car/bike) down, and that's better than none.
tl:dr; We getting shafted more and more, and it's our fault because we're a nation of apolitical wimps. ____________________ A Guide To Powerbands |

Exactly! People are unhappy yet they can't be bothered to do sod all about it, not even sign an online petition. |

1,811,424 people signed the road pricing petition.
Online petitions are never going to change anything and signing them is a waste of time. |
