I find that the planning can be as much fun as the actual trip, so tend to spend time looking at maps, destinations, things along the route and campsites.
What is everyone thinking of doing this year and when.
At the moment due to the kids I am only planning a quick trip to John OGroats, camping just across the boarder on the way up and down and at a campsite in John OGroats. A 4 day trip of approx 320 miles a day. Hope to do this in May, Before the World Cup.
If I can get away for longer I am thinking of going to france aiming for Grasse and then onto Caracassonne, but will have to see about that trip, if possible will be in late August easly September.

I'm planning for this summer. No touring tho, just a few camping trips. Trying to find a way of fitting everything on a small commuter 2up.

I`ve talked about it in other threads.... i`m going to have a mini-tour around East Anglia on my little CG!

i even bought a little tank-bag today Smile just for this trip.
being a bit of a blouse, i am waiting until the weather improves.

found a few campsites but am not booking up yet as i am looking at getting a new job (hopefully) so dates have to fit in where i can get time off.

really looking forward to this summer Smile

This summer is next summer.

I've already planned, so if anyone wants to hit Hungry and Croatia for 2 weeks from June 11th and take in the Assen GP then give me a shout.

I am thinking of a week in Northern Ireland, or maybe a week in Cornwall as I enjoyed my trip last year to Cornwall. It all depends if my holidays from work coincide with my partner's or not.
For our main holiday in September, we have not decided whether it will be a biking holiday or one involving a 'plane.

[Sorry for thread hogging/waffle]
I was doing the tour of Ireland, but again fate has been cruel.
Heard that the roads can be pot-hole ridden and puntures common.
Also heard its a beautiful Island and one i'd be made fully welcome to visit. (Lots n lots of relatives)
The plus side is i can take my daughter for lots of little mini-trips. Will be doing the V festival again, this time on the bike.

I haven't got any firm plans yet for this year, though there will be a trip. Originally I was planning to ride to the Nordkapp and back through Finland and the Baltics but i've knocked that on the head I think as it's too much riding for 2 weeks and I need to learn to take it easier than usual.

This means the current plan is to take a leisurely route out to Slovenia and spend a couple of days there, then a few more days in Croatia to find the nice bits, including some days off riding completely. Effectively it'll be revisiting the nice parts of last year's trip for a better look. A second trip somewhere later on would be a possibility, Norway or maybe Spain but that's just an idea. As i've chosen to be in between jobs from next month I've really no idea what's happening for sure.

Getting my bike today then mod1 on Sunday, so getting closer! Planned a 4 day trip in Scotland in the beginning of April. Not sure what's happening later on in the year, it depends on work.

I haven't really planned it yet in details, but I know I'm leaving on the 1st May, heading to Hungary.

I guess I will do the planning bit the night before or something.

I'm definitely going to do quite a few mini-trips within the UK, and I'm hoping that I can find a couple of weeks to head into Europe. I don't really do planning though, so if and when that happens I'll just aim East and see how far I can get.

I am going to France in May. I have never ridden abroad before.

Going to Troyes in France staying overnight and coming straight back again. I shall be going with a couple of friends who are very experienced riders and go to Europe all the time. I just need nursing into it. We are going by Eurostar.

Once I've done that, I'll probably go back somewhere else in Europe by Eurostar again on my own for longer later in the year.

Unless there's issues preventing you going further like an unreliable bike or lack of time I don't know why you would stop there? It's a lot of expense and a long trip just to ride to Troyes and back in two days. France even that far down is not very different to England, get further south and you'll be glad you did as it's much more satisfying, the scenery is infinitely better and the weather will be hot.

Have got a modest solo tour of eastern Spain planned (ferry booked), taking in a few days at a mate's house near Benidorm (for the sun, sea and sangria fix) but also hopefully a lot of nice scenery and towns too. And decent roads of course!
