Has anyone actually ever been nabbed by one, in the car for example?

How fast were you going and what was the limit?

I normally drive about 10% over as I figure my speedo is out a bit and the cams have an allowance for this, at this speed I slowly pass MOST people but occasionally somebody will fly past far in excess of my speed (in a car)....

Do they know something I don't or are they just really fucking dumb?

the idots that go flying past dont understand that they are AVERAGE speed checks....not measuring speed cameras.

i had a car (wa sin the BM) fly past at well over 90 (in a 50) and the stupid idot slowed down when he saw the camera.....DONE Laughing

Really fucking dumb then Mr. Green

I do laugh everytime I see it, but it seems to happen so often on the M4 that I did begin to wonder if I was missing something.

I've seen no end of people going through the roadworks on the M1 near Nottingham (50zone with average speed cameras) at well over 80mph... They anchor on for each camera and then fly off once they're past them. It always makes me laugh.

I had fun going over the M62 on my way to holyhead last year. Roadworks, 50zone, average speed cameras. All the car drivers were being good little boys and girls and sticking to 50. I however took advantage of the fact that the cameras are front facing and my bike doesn't have a front number plate Very Happy

Ha , I love the average speed cameras, I usually travel slightly faster than the cars and by changing lanes it usually means I end up ahead of the car I was behind at the start of the roadworks.
There are roadworks at junction 33 M6 and they have placed fixed speed cameras there instead of the av speed ones means I have to be a lot more careful of my speed through them Sad

They all face forwards don't they? No worry for bikers.

Is it me or has anyone else noticed that these cameras are popping up on motorways everywhere. It seems they are all always in places where there are road works limiting the speed to 50mph. But the roadworks are usually there because they are putting up the cameras.

What i want to know is that when the roadworks are over, are they going to put the speed limit back to 70? Or will they try and get away with leaving it at 50mph?

I've never seen an average speed check in a 70 zone.

The cameras always seem to be for 50mph and at road works, i.e. the ones on the M4 - looked on the council website and it said they were going to be removed when the works were done... the truth in that is a story for another day, they also said the works would be done by Dec 09.... still waiting you bunch of fucking retards! Mr. Green

It is almost worth having them just to see the odd person slow down for each camera though Karma

The ones by the M25 junction of the M3 are also still there after the 3 years of roadworks. I have to use the norther part of the M25 all the time and they are everywhere, its very hard sticking to the low speed limits on the motorway. No been done yet though

Judging by the link below, I'd suggest that they're working.

[link]https://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news--general-news/m6-roadwork-speed-cameras-rake-in-334000-in-just-five-weeks/9903.html[/link]

The article doesn't say they're average but a 50Mph limit on the M6 would suggest it's likely.

I drove from Hastings > Blackpool about a month back in the car (315 miles and weather was shite, wouldn't have been fun on the bike).

I kept hitting average speed cameras which we're starting to piss me off tbh, all to often you'd be at a nice pace only to find yourself on an empty motorway doing 50Mph (I done the trip at night).

They truly are a pain in the arse.

I've seen them on the M11 in a 70 limit, but can't recall any others. The worst one I have encountered was on the A46 going from Newark to Leicester where they seem to be dualling a long stretch. At the time I went down it, there were no actual roadworks on the main road but the speed limit was 40. Dead straight ex-Roman road as well. Infuriating!
