The fastest my CG125 has ever hit was 75MPH indicated. If the honda rebel 250 can't even hit that (by the sounds of it) I really wouldn't be interested even if it was a learner legal bike in this country
Heck, any 2 stroke 125cc bike can be de-restricted and some of them get over 100MPH. They also ought to be perfectly reliable if you know how to maintain and rebuild them. ____________________ will never give up his CG. I look at my fuel gauge more as a progress bar than a fuel gauge.
G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.
ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston? |

That would be right for its top end, however you can kepe it there all day as long as it is fully lubricated and not overly hot out.
| ty12fd wrote: | the Rebel was not built to go hundreds of miles at a time at speeds of over 55mph. |
It will do it, have done London and back on both my Honda 250s which are more or less ancesters of the Rebel.

No it isnt, its just not primed for the type of riding you do. Essentially the CBF250 isnt overly exciting putting out about 24bhp but is a good solid commuter and in the States it is the most readily available sensible learner Bike.
| ty12fd wrote: | The first few things you should learn when riding is leaning, stopping, starting, and shifting. Not going fast. What good is a bike going 70mph if you do not know how to stop it? |
I concur, but believe you underestimate the speed the bike is capable of. It should be able to do 85-90mph. It should be able to do that all day as long as the engine is lubricated and it isnt too hot out.

Bearing in mind the only limits you'll face are a 50cc/125cc/33bhp, a learner 250 doesn't really fit in. |
Just from reading this post Ty is a yank, and actually a quite sensible one compared to his compatriots.
For those of you struggling with their Mod 1 & 2 most Americans take a course equivilant to our CBT, without the on road section, to get motorcycle endorsement on their driving licence.
Ty: welcome to the United Kingdom. ____________________ Kal...
