You can ride up to a 250 in NZ, straight from learner.

I rode one off the forecourt with nobbut a car licence.
No such thing as CBT over there back then (1983/84).

But over here, my first bike was an RX125 I think ?Suzuki again?
No idea. It was shit. I blew a piston within weeks.

Months later I acquired a Honda XL125 with a kickstart.
Never looked back.

A TS50X. It was crap. Didn't ride it much as it always had some issue that needed sorting (wiring loom on fire, headrace bearings so fucked it would barely corner, exhaust dropping off etc). Considering I was riding stuff like DT175's and RD200's on field at the time it didn't really cut it.

A two stroke, it would keep up with traffic pretty well and cost almost nothing in that I got back what I paid for it after 6 months.
Had quite an appetite for spark plugs though.
