 |
|
Hi folks, just looking through the available parts for my bike and I am left wondering if the 3 stud flange that is standard on the ZX6R 2002 A1 model can be modified to accept standard slip ons from other models?
Anyone done it and if so what was it like cost wise and availability on other models.

Fawbish, its not intended to keep the flange, I want to get rid of it and go with slip on options but I am not 100% certain if the bore of the pipe is larger than most slip on's (if that makes sense) as it does seem a bit beefy.
The problem is that while I can almost certainly find slip ons from other models I am unsure if any will fit the bore as standard.
The other option of course is to go with a full system which will give me a slip on link pipe but until I know if I am selling on the A1P this year I dont want to fork out that kind of readies.

If you cut off the flange you can have the pipe swaged to whatever size you want (if you can find someone with a swaging machine). I did this when building my 3" bore pipe. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Chris, the slip on idea is simply because a lot of manufacturers are not making new models for this fitting so reviewing new exhausts relies on having a bike with the correct fitting and its either buy a new model bike which I cant do with a baby on the way or find an alternative.
Pete, thanks I might have a look around for that.

Edit if you want to check if a can will fit your bike go on the leo vince website.
https://www.leovince.com
Select the can that fits your bike, there is an option for technical drawing which gives you the size of the bore and the distance and size of the bolt holes.
I'm 99% sure all those bikes I listed fit your bike. I have a Speed Four and it has a ZX6R (2001) model exhaust on it I checked the technical drawing of the speed four can and the ZX6R (636, 2002) model and the flanges where the same. ____________________ Well, you know what they say.
