Right I just changed the oil (simple for some). The oil that came out was black and the stuff I put in is clear. Bit scared to turn the engine on incase the bike explodes or something. The oil I put in was 15W40 shell motorcycle oil but the haynes manual says 10w40, is this a biggy or can the bike deal with it?

Im too used to 50cc two stroke oil buying. Just went down, brought first relatively good looking oil that werent too extravagent but werent budget (2 x 1litre mobil semi synthetic stuff) and an oil filter. Nothing better after wearing in the new piston ring, altho as i have only dont 300 miles i imagine there is still a tad to go. But since it rides like its run in (VERY free revving) i assume all is kocher. But its like a new bike. Best 15 quid spent in my opinion.
Cant believe people get garages to do it, besides from the saving you make, you can monitor the grade of oil going in.
And yes the oil that comes out is bloody disgusting (and very very staining) but if you put it in old bottles, you have petty vandalism sorted if someone pisses you off in the near future. Oh and it burns as well as (homemade) napalm if you get it started (has a high Ea but put some petrol/white spirit in with it....
Plus (i believe) it kills grass quite efficiently. Oil scarred messages are always cool. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...
