Anyone else going?

I know it's bit early but pretty excited seeing as it's my first time on track etc etc. Very Happy Needless to say I'll be in the novice camp.

Oh and 105db. How loud is that? Reckon I can get away with a race can without baffles on a Bandit6?

Very tempting - I have a few holidays I need to use up by the end of March. Weather can be a bit hit and miss around then, so I'll see nearer the time.

£70 too!

Couldn't say with the noise, it's difficult to judge by ear. I have a race can on my RSV (v-twin) which sounds a hell of a lot louder than my track bike (CBR600 IL4) and yet it's 1dB quieter. Best bet is to get a dB meter (I got one for £20 off ebay, do you know anyone who has one?) and hold that half a meter away from the exhaust at 45 degrees. IL4's need to be tested at 6k RPM

Thinking Their website gumf mentions 600cc IL4s have to be tested at 7k rpm. Mine sounds pretty loud at that engine speed - perhaps I'll put the standard can back on for this one. Boo!

Sad

Hmm, I've never seen anywhere test IL4 600cc four-strokes at anything other than 6k RPM. Where's the link to where it says 7k? I can't find it.

If it is 7k I'm also fucked Laughing

It's always been 6.5k when I've been tested before.

Always been 7k for my R6. That's how MSV test.

I can honestly say if the can's in good condition you should be fine. My R6 does 100-103 usually and that has a full race system.

At Oulton it's always been 6.5k for my R6... did they change this recently? I have to admit I've not been on a track in a year Sad

Maybe, I've only been back out since August 2009. It was 6k on my Hornet when I was out in 2008.

Balls, it is 7,000 RPM - https://tickets.motorsportvision.co.uk/MSV-info/trackday_terms/Cadwell_Park_Bike_Trackdays_Terms.pdf

Half way down the first page. I did all my Cadwell days last year on a litre V Twin, so maybe they changed it last year, because in 2008 when I was on the Hornet it was 6,000 RPM

Hmm, bugger. Guess that means the Racefit pipe I was looking at is a no-go!
Saying that though, you could always get away with a little lower - primarily as the guy testing is usually watching the dB meter rather than your rev counter!

Laughing

Depends how lucky you are. Brands usually has one watching your tacho, and the other with the dB meter.

Well they forecast rain all day Friday - typical!

Can you wear a one-piece waterproof set (the set I use for my daily commute) over the leathers etc?

Also, gloves. Do they have to have a cuff?

Thanks

Yeah waterproofs over leathers are fine.

8000 rpm for a 400 4cyl! Although I've got between 101db and 104db on the same bike with the same standard exhaust.
I'm pretty sure mine wouldn't pass at 8000rpm, I hold it at 6000rpm and nobody ever checks.
Not sure about cadwell but I know at snetterton they have a noise meter on the senna straight which flags up anything really loud and then they retest it.

Have a good day Cool

Yep glorious day. Cool

This is a post from a guy on the Triumph forums who was stationed opposite where I parked in the paddock.

https://www.triumph675.net/forum/showthread.php?p=526717

Actually we were all a bit worried when he was picked up in the ambulance but he actually got away with just bruises.

I didn't take any pics - anyone know the photographers that were there??

Couldn't spot you in the pits mark.
Wasn't there for too long, did about 5 laps then did this.
