 |
|
So i rang up to see if i could ride a mates bike on my policy 3rd party only. Womman said no and i would have to cancle my policy then put me on hold. 3 mins latter and now i can ride any bike . *whistles* so my dads said i can use his t595 with COUGH restrictors COUGH in it untill i get my zxr sorted. or his gsx1400 . not bad for a zxr400 and £200 a year gotta love my dads traders policy.
i assume by this if i was to buya bike that was too expensive for mysef to inshure say a gsxr750 or simular and my dad has it on his traders i can ride it yes?? ____________________ Current >Cb600fx hornet, ns125rk90 21.7bhp@wheel<

Unforunately yes (only 3rd party)
I know someone who is driving around in a scooby with all the stage bells and whistles.
Technically he OWNS a fiesta with fully comp any car insurance. Hes got the v5 and insurance in his mums name as she has years and years of no claims. must seem odd to the insurance company telephone staff when a 50 odd year old woman is insuring a staged scooby
Good little loop hole but be careful you don't wanna smash the bike with only 3rd party insurance.
Also worth noting some insurance companys only allow the any car policy come into effect if your over 21.

no its not, fronting is having a policy on a vehicle insured by someone else with you as the named driver.
i.e. main driver is a parent you are a named driver.
this is completely different as you are only insured 3rd party and the vehicle is insured legally by someone else. |

Do what i do, me and my old fella have the same name, and we never fill out the DOB section on the log books, so insuring each others bikes isnt that difficult.
"is your name on the log book sir"
"it certainly is"
But turning 22 i now have entitlement to ride any bike tpo, so i ride them anyway.
in the future if any bike was overly expensive for me to insure TPO, id insure it in his name as hes over 50 and insurance is very cheap, then ride it on my policy.

I'd check on the traders insurance, might be something in there that precludes third party cover on personal policies.
Business insurance is a wee bit different from private insurance.
To the 'just don't crash' argument? Sods law, you know you'll go out tomorrow and prang it.

It is fronting if you are the owner and main user of the vehicle, even if it is legally insured by another party. It is still illegal. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
