My bike has a datatool veto plus alarm, the alarm fobs have no batteries inside and the previous owner put the bike into valet mode so to disable the alarm

but...the fucking thing beeps every 20seconds, whether the bike is off or running, even when the main battery is disconected as it obviously has its own power source. Its very very annoying

I bought the bike in december and have been putting up with it, while iv searched for batteries but i have had zero luck, iv bought 4 sets of diff batteries none of which fit, local dealers claim to not have any batteries either

I want to remove it, is it as simple as cutting it from the loom and repairing the wiring, making sure everything is still connected up that should be? Id rather not try to remove it and somehow immobilise the bike or anything

Cheers Thumbs Up

How much would a datatool alarm fitter charge to remove it? At least you can point a finger at someone if it fcuks up.

i`ve got a Spyball alarm/immobiliser on my ZX, and it`s a pain in the butt also.

it turns itself on automaticly after the keys have been out of the bike for a minute Confused Evil or Very Mad
so i have to do a sequence on the fob every time i stop.

Great for detering scummers who break into my garage but a pain when i`m out for a trudle.
good thing is i get cheaper insurance because i`ve got it fitted

i can always put it back into valet mode just for you guys if you like, i know how much you all loved it Laughing

atm with the bike in a garage the alarm made no difference to insurance cost, so I didnt bother declaring it on the policy anyway!

c-m, that isnt cool Sad

pepperami, the spybal on my cbr6 did that also, as did the meta on the zx6r, im assuming this datatool will be the same, alarms are lame

The Datatool I had on the NSR used to re-arm its self when it fancied, used to get some right looks going through town, people must have assumed I'd just stolen it...

I removed a DataTool alarm from my Mille myself as it was problematic and annoying.

Only took about half an hour.

In about 4 or 5 places the original colorful wiring had been cut, then spliced into two wires from the alarm (which were black), and taped up.

Untape it, cut off the alarm wires, resolder the (matching-color) originals back together, voila.

I had a Datatool system 3 on the 'four and 100% would never buy a bike with any alarm on it again.

It sometimes went off when in a closed garaged with nothing touching it or anyone in there with it Shocked

£300 can get you lots of big chains which would work a million times better. When it went off you dont think "oh someone might be stealing my bike, best go check" you think "god not again, hope it turns itself off".

Like flip said, I would pay and get it off Thumbs Up

Had the same Datatool Veto on mine for 13 years now and never had a single problem.

I do believe its one of these you require: Clicky

https://www.brandedbiker.co.uk//img/products/23A.jpg

[edit] That is presuming you have the 433 transmitter what does it say at the top left hand corner of your fob?

They have the full range of replacement datatool batteries too Clicky

Or you can give a bloke called Julian there a ring, he knows his stuff and will be able to sort you out with what you need. Thumbs Up

There's a spyball alarm in mine but the guy I bought it off said he disconnected it after putting it on because it kept draining the battery. When the bikes switched off, if I put my head near the bottom of the tank, can hear a faint hi pitched noise from it. Most people I've spoken to with alarms on their bikes seem to have trouble with them unless they're really good / expensive alarms.

got the datatool system 3, only problem I have had with it is that there is no full off switch which annoys me and my neighbours off when I have to remove the battery. Is seems a very idiotic system to me for it to beep every 30 secs just to remind me that I have turned it off, I mean I already know I turned it off since I stood there pressing the damn button, I see no point of it. It would probably envoke the "crying wolf" syndrome in most peopel.

Just glad I wasnt the one who payed the 500 quid to have it installed in the first place.

I think the Veto at the time (1997) was £400 fitted (on an £8k bike)
