Yep. Its my first "big bike". Its a 1996 Kawasaki GPZ 500s, 19k miles on it, new tyres, new cans and its orange Mr. Green . The engine sounds good, no knocks or anything just a tiny rattle on idle which i heard is common on GPZ. No pics for now unfortunately but will get some today!

Need to do my licence now Smile. Has anyone under 21 done thiers lately? Is it hard?[/i]

Perfect first proper bike Thumbs Up

People should see you coming too which is a big advantage. Quite strange (but good imo) that someone shelled out for new standard exhausts, usually at that age they'd have the old Nexus one on there.

They sound nice and they look nice but I wouldn't spend £240 on exhausts for a bike of that value when you have perfectly good ones already on there. Save the money for stainless downpipes if the mild steel ones are still on there as they'll rot Thumbs Up

That said, you could probably sell the new OE ones that you've got for quite a bit on ebay so maybe it's worth it?

Havent really had a closer look at the downpipes yet but will consider getting new ones.

How much do you think i could sell the cans that i have for?

I ordered some last week but the shop got closed. Looked for some on ebay, found a GPZ sticker but cant find any kawasaki. Theres only "Kwikasfuki"... Not getting that...

What i might do is take the from fairing off, throw in some twin headlamps and turn it into a streetfighter. Will look much better without the front i think.

Something like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9sPiaJlhB4

Cant polish a turd.. lol
The front does look a bit large and odd for the bike.. but check the screen you can hide behind Wink
Plus if you ditched the front..all the wiring etc behind.. (tried with my fzr...failure) its worth just leaving it standard for now

plus.. its orange..

I didn't mean replace the downpipes now, just budget for it if they're old rather than spending money replacing perfectly good silencers.

No idea what they'd sell for, check the completed listings on ebay.

I'd leave the fairing on, I think they look quite nice and it makes the bike very practical. I had one (well the grey 400 version) about 12 years ago, used to buzz from Bristol to Edinburgh on it with no problems, it's a great "do anything" bike, practical, cheap to run and reasonably fun too, surprisingly quick for what they are imo.

I always wanted a "streetfighter". Just love the way they look. I havent ridden the bike yet so im yet to find out what dfference does the screen make.

And what wrong with orange Mr. Green

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9sPiaJlhB4!!

That looks mint to me!

Ive got money for both the silencers and the downpipes so i thought why not get em. I wanted the silencers coz of the bike sounds awesome with them on.

I wont be using the bike for commuting as i live 10 minutes from where i work so its a bike "just for fun" if you know what i mean. I wont be replacing it for the next 2 years until my restriction is up so i might aswell do it up a little bit Mr. Green .
