£600-700 laptop?

What would you recommend for that sort of budget?

For that sort of price you could get a nice tablet PC, if that interests you. Possibly a Dell Latitude XT?

Word of warning, they have no optical drive.

OK so whats a good £350 laptop? , I'm thinking of a Samsung something or other, the 2004 dell (which was top o the range at the time) I have is seriously showing its age, its not too bad with its twin screen capability. And it is reasonably fast but it has no upgrade paths and things are getting pretty bloody big memory size rather than disk size. I was rather stunned when I created an image that was 6GB, I thought that the machine had locked up bit the progress bar increased by 0.01% each time I thought about turning the machine off.

Work, home, graphics and gaming, music, Internet, tv + dvd's..

Would prefer a laptop, not a tablet or desktop

would prefer something built to last ie latitude range

windows 7 professional

and gonna be good for next two years or so?

Oh and a 15" screen minimum with decent resolution

Hi

I have an Alienware m17x up for sale at work, 2.8ghz Core 2 Extreme, 17" WUXGA+ display (1920x1200 native), SLi 8800M GTX graphics cards and a 240gb Raid stripe covering storage. It's out for a grand, bit over 600 quid but it's an option Wink

Back on track, don't bother with Windows 7 Professional unless you explicitly need domain support. Win 7 Home Premium has the better bundle of goodies for 99% of the people out there, plus it's cheaper Thumbs Up
