I've not heard of that before. There's no fcukin' way I'd hand over my lid.
Now I think about it...
I've been to bike shows where I've paid army cadets a quid or whatever to put it in the 'helmet crèche'. I don't 'spose this is any different really.

Chain them to your bike, or if they ask for them emphasise the value of the helmets and if they are covered by their insurance policy as this is a £499 ARAI helmet you know (even if it is a cheapo one).
They will say yes but call their bluff and say can I have that in writing are YOU willing to take responsibility (most people are not).
Otherwise vote with your feet.
At least in Russia where they had such a policy they gave people free to use lockers. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. I had a similar experience today while out on my Pit bike.
I pulled into a petrol Garage. Took the nozzle, and went to fill my 2L tank up.
The bloke in the shop pointed at the door, So I put the nozzle back on the pump, and went into the shop.
I said "It'll only take about a quid mate, I'll leave you a tenner".
Went back out to the bike, Started filling.
GSXR6 pulls up to the pump next to me, Nozzle off, And starts filling.
I walked into the shop to get my change, And said to the bloke:
"How come you didn't ask that fella to come in and pay? I even took my helmet off, Look, He's still got his on".
His reasoning was "He's on a proper bike".
I really couldnt be arsed to argue the toss that my Pit bike is probably of higher value than his SRAD. So just left the station. Wont be fueling up there again.

I make the big deal about how it is my Personal Protective Equiptment and I can save my life and I will not entrust it to someone on minimum wage. Then ask there reasons why I can't take it in, I was told it could get caught up in peoples feet if there was a fire, I pointed to the guy walking in with a backpack, I asked why he was aloud in with a bag that he will put on the floor, that has straps that can easily get your feet tangled up in, yet my sold helmet which I will be keeping on my lap is a danger.
Defeat them with logic, they work in a cinema, it's not difficult, they are still stubborn tell them you will write a complaint to there manager and ask for his name. Cinema muppets are easy to outwit, if ever I get stopped for having a bottle of coke or something I just mutter something about diabetes and ignore them. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. What the actual fuck?
I'm tempted to go to my local cinema dressed up as a biker (lack of bike) and if they mention it I'll definately kcik up a fuss.
And take a page out of ym mothers book.
Local newspaper.
My mum has contacts
I would NEVER EVER hand my helmet to someone I didn't know. No matter who they are.
I would only happily give my helmet if they provided a locker for me to safely store it from prying eyes and damage.
Oh and in no way would I pay for such a service. If they demand it, they must provide it.
Get to fuck. Assholes. ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600

But hey WTF you people still go to the cinema? My experience with cinemas is pretty bad, unless they are the out of town inaccessible by public transport ones. In that they are filled with chavs who talk throw pop corn and have phones ring through the entire film. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. If you go again why not go prepared and have a statement/receipt specifying the helmet(s), the value and condition.
Put in a clause where the manager (undersigned) accepts all liability for any damage or mistreatment to the full retail value. Leave bits for a signature and print name.
Then if they refuse to sign they're admitting they can't take proper care and therefore you can't be expected to leave your property (as stated above, Personal Protection Equipment etc.) with such ill prepared people.

The price is the reason I avoid cinemas. A normal ticket price at Cineworld is £7.40 |

Never heard of Cineworld, must be some northern thing
Somewhat related, When i was dispatching a few years ago i was carrying a number of backup tape boxes (big old unweildy things) to an office near centre point in london.
This was a regular drop i had most days, and generally had no problems, then one day a new security guard was behind the desk. On this day i had 3 boxes which took up all my hands. I was also wearing a relatively new flip up lid, so i walk into reception (lid flipped up) sign in and go to walk over to the lifts when this jobsworth cunt insists that its now company policy for all helmets to be left at reception... I was having none of it, i blankly refused on similar grounds that it was expensive kit and how do i know it would be looked after...
Besides its such an arsehole request to make when i clearly have my hands full and busy, the only reason is to annoy me, he obveously hated couriers. so we had it out i basically told him to fuckhimself in slightly nicer words and sort of barged passed him and went up and completed the drop off. By the time i got backdownstairs he had called the head of security type fellow who was much more polite about the situation (all the while the other jobsworth cunt scowling in the background after calling daddy down). A couple of hours later my controller gets at me on the radio to tell me i have been banned from the premises .
My controller wasent very happy that she had to find someone else to do it every day but i couldent care less as it was a nightmare parking near centrepoint even on a bike.
As Hetzer says, jobsworth cunts, they just want you to jump through their hoops so they can feel some sort of power for that brief moment. When you say its expensive kit and how can they guarantee it will be safe its always the same "dont worry it will be well looked after by me" and i always think the same thing, you are enough of a bastard to inconvenience me by making pointless requests, its not much of a push to go from that to "fuck this biker scum /drop helmet on floor" ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

Always used to hand over my lid and big heavy leather jacket, the space you get in the cinemar is small at the best of times.
Just request that you put it down yourself in a place that is not under any circumstances going to be touched.
Could always take a photo for proof of where it was if you want to be anal about it. Then if its moved get all upset and cry. ____________________ || Past: 1991 Kawasaki ZXR 250 ~ 2003 Honda CBR 600 F Sport ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1999 Yamaha R1 ~ 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R J ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1998 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm ~ K1 GSXR 600 Track bike ~ K6 GSXR 1000 ~ 2006 Speed Triple 1050 || Current: 2005 R1 https://www.adrucore.co.uk |
