I cant help but think if you werent cocking about trying to 'apex' in the oncoming lane etc it may not have happened, but top marks for the video - it was most amusing It must be a big relief to pick up your bike and see its actually pretty much ok! Btw where was the camera mounted - was it fixed to something in the storage space with the pillion seat removed? |

It's quite an amusing little video but i have a question...
Now i'm not a fast rider, i wouldnt say, and i dont tend to move around much in the saddle, but i cant help feel the ride didnt feel smooth and you could have easily sat in a higher gear and made much smoother/quicker progress, rather than changing as often as you did?
Im just curious as to how you feel about it, im not trying to be critical, im just curious! ____________________ Current Bike: 1996 Yamaha TRX850 (The Japanese-Ducati One).

Yeah, I've noticed a LOT of things. I bought this so that I can actually see how much i need to improve.
1) I like to hang off... But in doing so, I'm riding twisted. I'd like to do the same route again (without the crashing obviously)... but have a more natural rhythm.
2) I should ride how i normally ride and dismiss the fact that it's being recorded and play up. I wouldn't have made that mistake if I knew I weren't being recorded. I would have normally kept left and turned in late... but in some of the videos I had, people criticized me for riding too far into the gutter.
3) Gearingwise, I tend to ride in 5th-6th, but I charge down the box in the corner because it makes it a LOT more smoother through the bends. A lot of physics involved but I think one of the reasons why I didn't make that turn as well as target fixation was poor road reading... including being in too high a gear for the corner. I find if i've got the engine spinning at about 5-9k, it's really neat in turning in.
4) I haven't got used to the new front tyre I had on yesterday. I was trying to find its sweetspot because the old roadsmart was completely chamferred (and been on the bike for 10k miles) so I got used to it.
Hetz... A259? That's around the corner from work. Actually, dungeness is VERY close to camber sands and rye! I DID not know that!
Putting the full video on... chances are it wont be as funny as the crash vid lol! ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

Higher gears = loose, lower gears = tight. Anyone who's missed a gear into a corner and come up in neutral will know how bad 'loose' can be. ____________________ "There's the horizon! Ride hard, ride fast and cut down all who stand in your way!" |

That was by far the gayest off I think I've seen in a while, almost as bad as me vs the tree last year.
Very entertaining though and good to see the infamous tot humility as always.
It's always nice when you have a funny one and come away with your kit/ ride unscathed, makes you feel really lucky considering.
Keep it sunny side up |

Unlucky man, cool video though.
Hard to judge the angles from the video and how much you are leaning off the bike, but I would say not to try too hard. Looks like you are hanging off more than you would need to for the corner. Like you're trying hard to get your knee down, but the corner isnt sharp enough to require it.
Try and keep your shoulders and hips parallel and maybe lean down a bit closer to the tank. Should help with looking through the corner more an avoid the target fixation thing.
I think you were off the throttle in the 'crash corner' so maybe try to brake/sort out body position and power it through the corner. Leaning over on negative throttle gives me the feeling of not being able to lean anymore so maybe this was a cause of you running wide?
Props for posting the video. ____________________ Current: MT-10, Bandit, Grom, GPZ500

not being funny or rude in any way, but i've noticed you seem to over analyze things, the only piece of advice i think would help is to just ride the bike and enjoy it as it cant be good having all these theory's ratling round in your head mid corner ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

Yeah, I only analyse looking back at the crash. Sometimes you'd want to know why you've crashed and who to blame. In this case it was VERY clear who was at fault.
In short, it's not a bad piece of kit, spending £130 on it

I'd have liked to get the contour HD, but the motorsports mounts make it a highly versatile piece of kit. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1
