i have just put a new carb on a bike for a friend of mine, i have the fuel air mix on tickover sorted but when the throttle is opened (only when riding) fully it bogs down, if opened up slowly it picks up nicely but hard on the throttle she wants to die,

any ideas and what to do to fix

maybe the wrong idle jet, if your going from slight throttle open to fully open and the transition is bad.

i think your problem is described somewhere in here

sounds like thats a main jet issue. It will need a larger mainjet.

Also make sure the float height isnt rediculously low.

after reading the article i believe it is more than likely that it is the main jet as temeluchus said, maybe that or the needle hight

Find someone else that has fitted the same carb to the same bike and see what size jets and assorted settings they used.

There are many different things you can fiddle with on a carb - jet sizes, needle height, idle mixture, float level being the usual ones, probably some other bits too. If you fiddle and you don't know what you're doing, you'll fuck it up. The engine will either only run well for a small bit of the rev range, or you'll seize it.

If you're going to try to muddle through by yourself, and assuming the carb that you fitted is the same size as the original, set everything exactly the same and see if it works.
