the dial on the brake lever number 1-5. is number 1 to have the brakes sharper with less play in the lever or is number 5?

Turn it to 1, press the brake.
Turn it to 5, press the brake.
See which one has more play/reach(edit Razz )

In my defense, I wasn't actually suggesting I knew anything about the subject, only had the information he gave me plus a brain.

How fast before the brakes activate
1 means the lever comes in very slightly and brakes hard
5 means lever comes in quite a far way and can be used for much slower progressive braking

or thats how the fzr and zx6r work.

Effectively... yes

I use it to compensate for brake fade... usually when pads get thinner or fluid needs flushing. Midpoint setting is a good datum since you can always make adjust the span to take up the slack in the system.

What are you lot on about Confused

It just adjusts the reach of the lever, not the sensitivity or how far you have to pull it before the brakes bite. Laughing
