What worked for me was to shout as loud as I could into my helmet (when we were moving) to get rid of the stress and anxiety, then pretended the voice in my ear was the satnav, and any time the guy said an instruction i'd reply loudly "Aye aye, Captain".

Once I relaxed I turned it into a game. Just tried to see if I could ride perfectly. It ended up being quite enjoyable. I was also singing to myself, then bursting out laughing like an absolute nut ball which got rid of more anxiety.

The more people say "just be calm, you'll be fine". The more nervous I got. Just ignore everyone and when you get moving and the wind noise allows you to scream and shout then do it!!

I failed my first time round from being nervous and all horrible. Just get rid of the crazy mate. Very Happy

Well my first go at using the SV was a 200mile journey.. Seem to like to throw myself in at the deep end. But it was wicked to be honest. The exhaust on my bike is totally home made so it's got no baffles or anything, it's a straight through hollow thing and is louder than a harley... just too loud.

Just need to buy an end can, a new screen, and a left hand mirror then my new baby will be sorted.

any songs you recommend singing ?

and is it easy to hear the instructor over the engine with the ear peice ?

cheers

Yeah it's easy to hear the instructor, there's a volume knob on the radios so it's fine.

Songs to sing: anything that come to your head... i was singing happy birthday to you, and bits and bobs of other songs... but I wasn't trying to think " oh sing a song to put my mind off things" it was more verbal diarrhoea just shouting out anything and everything to get the stress out of my head. Worked a treat.

Congrats mate! Thumbs Up

"Aye aye, Captain".

I did a similar thing on my first mod 2, think everytime he gave me an instruction i just went "AIIIIIGHHHT!" in a kinda chavish way, dont know why, but taking the piss out of chavs really seems to calm me down Laughing

I too was singing to myself, but was watching Bill bailey's part troll the night before so was automatically singing his "proper rock ballad". Was laughing my head off!

Ihave my retest on the 26th too, so fingers crossed! Hopefully there wont be any blind cagers out this time! Praying

Enjoy!!

Woman tried to change lanes into me Rolling Eyes from behind/ next to me. He just shouted "CAR!" down my ear and we then carried on. Everything else was fine, and that was about 10 mins in so i was pretty pissed off when we got back to the test centre and told me i'd failed Evil or Very Mad

I can see why he failed me now though, said i should've known she was there, but i had no need to do a lifesaver as i wasn't changing lanes so my instructor thought he might have been a bit harsh but, i dunno. I was paying attention to the junction coming up on the left btw, someone looked like they were going to pull out Rolling Eyes

But i'm confident for next time Thumbs Up

Ah mate that sucks. Stupid cagers getting in your way. Seems a bit unfair though as if you hadn't been doing your test then you wouldn't have been concentrating as hard on the road ahead of you and would have probably noticed her.

Well at least you know you can do it... think luck has a role in passing your test anyhow.. my sister failed her's because a cyclist cut right in front of her without looking.

Never mind, best of luck mate, im sure you will pass.

Cheers man Thumbs Up . And enjoy the extra power of the sv Laughing
Was the sv the first bigger (than a 125) bike you've been on, or have you had practice on others?

I did my first test and lessons on an ER6, and did my second test on a GS500 but other than those, yes it's is the first bike i've ridden, and it's plenty fast for me. Very Happy Thumbs Up
