I went out for a ride today, done 120 miles and my back side was killing me! I was hoping it would be a bit more comfortable than it is for that sort of mileage! Anyone else have the same problem?

It's also freezing today Sad

Did 90 miles (Wakefield to Leicester) on Friday and was aching by the time I got off (ER6-F). The return journey 4 hours later was even worse.

I've changed my mind about taking the bike any further afield. It's definitely a commuting only machine !

Which part of you was aching? Like mine, I would've though 90miles should be doable without two much pain on a "normal" sports bike.

I could do 200+ in one sitting on my 2000 CBR600F without a single ache or pain afterwards.

Different story on my RR though. Laughing

I can manage about 120-ish miles , though I won't be really uncomfortable , I can do with a break at that point .

Part of me wishes I still smoke , so I'd have a reason to stop for a stretch and a smoke Rolling Eyes

I frequently spend four and more hours sitting on the old RXS and rarely get the dreaded numb/sore arse. I do get knee ache sometimes, but it's a small bike and I'm fairly large Laughing

Yes. I have to stop every 60 miles or so, just to get the feeling back in most of my fingers and in my bum. But I suffer bad circulation in my hands at any time, it's just exaggerated when on the bike. Sad I suffer from back ache constantly...so it's a pain I just put up with.

Am i just lucky or something? I done a 240 mile round trip on my RR last weekend, in one day, then done another 120 miles the next day and not an ache?

I'm not exactly fit, pretty lardy these days but dont seem to ache at all?

One thing i do notice is that im relaxed on the bike, my hands dont grip the bars tightly at all - so i dont waste energy holding on too much and it lets the bike sort little bumps out. Dunno if that makes a difference though?

I find on back roads I tend to be fine as I move about the bike quite a lot - so try hanging off a bit etc and you may well find you're fine.

I do that a fair bit, If I'm being lazy and dont I find the bike doesn't want to go round corners nearly as well. Might have something to do with my anti-highside device (belly).

What you managed to pull 160miles out of a tank full?? Blimey Shocked how fast were you going...50mph all the way?? I can usually squeeze about 120 miles on my tank if I'm being good on the throttle.

It helps yes. But if you're anything like me and bashed up from an RTA 10 years ago, have bad circulation, a duff liver and age against you, then stopping for a break (usually when fuelling or using the facilities) is common-place. Smile

What year SV do you have?

I have the 2004 SV650S and I usually get about 95/100 miles before the reserve light checks itself on. That's with fairly spirited riding too mostly.

As for numbness, I get no aches except my gosh darn right hand.

Every 15 miles or so it goes dead so I have to shake it or whack it on the tank or my leg to get the blood flowing again. Laughing.

No bad RTAs, I've had a few offs but always been lucky enough not to hit anything as i've been sliding/rolling along.

I'm generally healthy and not really old (mid 20s), I'm just a bit on the tubby side these days.

Yeah good point.. I did stop once, forgot about that. Didn't get off the bike though so it doesn't count.
