I hit a deer on an unlit road (old A120)whilst travelling at 70mph. It hit my left hand footrest and motocross boot. I wobbled to a stop thinking I had hit a fox or a dog, as all I had seen was a nanosecond flash of fur in the beam of my headlight. I did a U-turn and rode back past the corpse which was one of those small Muntjack deer, about the size of an alsation.

I remember being terrified in case it was still alive and I would have to try and finish it off, luckily it was properly dead, it looked like the head had taken most of the impact. I had to park my bike so the headlights shone on it to even see it.

The morale of this story is that if I had been going at say 60mph then it would've been under my front wheel and I would've crashed, proof if proof were needed that speeding saves lives.
