 |
|
Right well i just insured my bike which is SORN at the moment and have my MOT tommorow morning, only problem is i can't tax it online for 14 days and won't recieve the insurance certificate for 3-5 working days. I need the bike for Monday to get to work so is there anyway of getting it taxed without the insurance certificate?
I was thinking of calling the insurance company in the morning and trying to get them to email it to me then print it off and take it down the post office? Or possibly call the insurance company when i'm at the post office and getting them to verify i have cover to the person at the post office? Not sure how strict they are about it.

Hmm i'll have to see if i can get a copy emailed to be by the insurance company, i know some companys only ever send you one by email so should be able to get one hopefully. I work in Reading so it's quite a police heavy area which is why i'm worried about being pulled over and not being on the system.
It's so frustrating how hard it is just to get on the flipping road! ____________________ |--Previous--|:2007 Aprilia SX50... --Current--|: 2007 Kawasaki ER-6N

I had my documents emailed to me by Carole Nash (Taxed it online) but thinking about it I don't remember getting any paperwork through the post! I'll be ripping the house apart tomorrow in case I mislaid them. |

After supplying
"Vehicle Registration Mark (number plate)
AND
Document Reference Number " online it will let you go through the process and get tax, since it's done electronically these days..
You could get done for not displaying a tax disc if caught(til it comes), but it's only a fine iirc. I haven't got mine for the car yet, usure if previous owner actually sent V5 off but I taxed it like a month ago and im still displaying old one.
If I rode the bike tomorrow it'd be the same, I'd get fined for not displaying(£30?) and a slapped wrist. That's getting MOT'd/taxed next weekend so I feel for ya. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Everything's done 'live' these days, I bought my tax then went shopping and was followed by a T5, if it hadn't gone through I'd have been pulled.
Who did you go with that're so crap they don't update for 14 days? ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Get some better happy pills, hit the gym & buy a medallion the size of a dinner plate. Job done |

It was H&R insurance, i thought 14 days was a bit of a long time for it to update as well. Good news is that the bike passed the MOT
Just about to apply for a tax disc online, can't be bothered to print stuff off and go down the post office. Just want to get out on the bike in the sun! I have the email on my phone for proof of insurance for if i get pulled anyway ____________________ |--Previous--|:2007 Aprilia SX50... --Current--|: 2007 Kawasaki ER-6N

You can use www.askmid.com to check the insurance database. |

Well that failed!
Apparently there's a gap in the licencing of the bike as it said i didn't declare it SORN back last year when in fact i did, so whether they try and do me for that or not is another story. Won't let me do it online either as it says i'm not insured, checked that askmid site and it hasn't been updated yet as it still says the bike isn't insured.

A freind of mine, always parks down side streets rather than sit on main roads, sits right clos to other traffic where possible(say, when in a queue) and only takes caution round traffic cars, typically others won't have reason to randomly check your vehicle? e.g, a PCSO wouldn't see you going along and radio in for a check...
(btw, not me - my cars is fully legit and my bike is tucked up not yet fixed in me garage) ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Get some better happy pills, hit the gym & buy a medallion the size of a dinner plate. Job done |
