Fours that is.....

Sold the Speed Four at the end of last summer and apart from financially I have felt like I have been missing something as had that for 2.5 years and really enjoyed the bike (even toured Scotland with Ram from here).

I have been saving for a while now so actually have some savings for a change and since the clocks went forwards and each weekend I have been taking a 2 hour train for see the girlfriend I decided I NEEDED something new.....

1993 Honda CB400 Superfour:
https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d20/andy13_uk/CB400%20Super%20Four/DSCF3383.jpg
https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d20/andy13_uk/CB400%20Super%20Four/DSCF3384.jpg

https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d20/andy13_uk/CB400%20Super%20Four/DSCF3382.jpg

It was brought from Craigs23 off here. He had someone that got in there first before me and when I was back at Easter seeing my parents his was only 30 mins away so went for viewing and loved it!Luckerly (for me) they no longer needed a bike for work so I went to pick it up this weekend just gone.

Done about 300 miles on it so far and is just the sort of thing I was looking for. Not too fast and easy to eat the miles up but enough power to be fun when needed.

Managed to get 170miles before turning the reserve on and gets ~55mpg so far which is ok considering I have been ragging it a little!

Also, the bike is so smooth, gear changes are effortless and is really smooth through the whole rev range (which the speed four wasnt).

The storage is massive, in here is a 1.5m chain+lock and a smaller lock. Very handy to carry stuff I need for the weekend Shocked

I won some downpipes on ebay for not much but they are mild steel and so are painted black. Tempted to get a can for it so can have it sounding nice but think is looks quite classic with the orginal exhaust system, opinions?

Yea but doesnt really feel like one. The superfour is much nice to ride as doesnt have clip-ons so for the long journey each weekend its ideal really and cheaper on fuel than the speed four was.

RE the other comments I had 4 seperate people ask me how the bike was so clean and one asked if the previous owner liked cleaning Laughing

I paid £850 for it which I think is reasonable as the are hard as hell to find on ebay and seen ones in not such good condition go for about this money so im happy.

I also had new progressive fork internals/fork seals/fork oil done before I picked it up (thanks craig!) and rear shocks done not that long ago.

Im very pressed with it. Just got to sell the RXS100 now!!

Would also like to thank Craig23. He was really helpful and a great guy. The bike is usual craig standard too!

Yea for the price range really wasnt anything comparable (bar CB1 but this seems better for longer journeys so perfect for me.

Doesnt have the power of the speed four but found the extra power just cost more (insurance, fuel etc) and really isnt what I want for biking anymore TBH!

Was a lovely bike but have to say ever since the devil can was on mine it never ran as smooth (sounded lovely though!).

Even booked it into Fowlers bristol for a new 'race can map' but only got an update which made no real improvement!

It was a great bike but dont really need/want a sporty bike at the moment so feel the superfour is a good compromise.

Why you selling yours?

Yea thats the thing, the orginal system is in very nice condition so in some ways putting the mild steel downpipes will make it look not as nice.

Im tempted to source the rest of the bits I need for a full system, put it on and make a decision whether it stay and if not sell it as a whole system on ebay (they seem quite hard to come by) and get my money back.

Nice looking bike Thumbs Up

On the ride back from my mate's last night I was beginning to wish for something a little smoother than the CB500, and my thoughts wandered to the 400/4 I had for a while. Although I don't want another ancient overpriced project, I was thinking that a Super Four would be an ideal replacement, as I don't need to go up to a 600.

Yea would recommend one so far. The thing I hated about the Speed Four was around town (it more than made up for in non-town areas) but this is nice around town and I can get my feet flat on the floor (I have short legs and couldnt on the 600 Shocked Sad Laughing )

600 was a lot of fun on the road but you have enough power to do stupid things which I think you dont have as much on this. Just end up cruising on it.....God, I sound like an old person.

But you have really a nice bike though, of course it will not really work the same as you first bought it but you can always change or repair some parts of your bike to make it in a good condition or if you have plans selling so you can be able to sell it in a reasonable price so you can buy a new one.

Real nice bike mate, the Superfour and in particular Craig's Superfour is one of the 90's naked bikes that I really do appreciate, they have a certain meaner look to them whilst being really asthetically pleasing. Compared to my GS, which I've left the keys in before on an eight hour shift in the city centre of Cardiff and no one bothered to nick it Laughing
