Managed to get a few pics while not working on the bike. Was about 150km's from Budapest on an old soviet air base for the European UEM pro-stock dragbike series.

Started the season with a completely new bike apart from the bodywork (should arrive soon), was just starting to get the bike really dialled in. Managed to qualify 8th with a 1/4 mile time of 7.667 secs and top speed of 183mph on a barely run in lump when the new developed clutch decided explode sending metal all round the engine. Number 3 piston, rings, chamber and top crank case were all torn up. The case was so badly cracked that the head studs were loose allowing the pressure from cylinder 4 to push the head outwards!! Cant show pics of the head gasket or clutch (as i would get in mucho trouble) but here you go.

So after a hard night of fixing and sourcing parts, it was all in vain. Round 1 was over for us because the spare bullet wasn't ready. So the next day was spent in the sun and the bike sat out side for the locals to sit on.

They actually work surprisingly well, there is also a large run off at most tracks aswell Thumbs Up

Truth is that at very high speeds aero drag slows you nearly as fast as brakes Laughing

I always thought pro stock was just tuning and a fairly standard bike, it appears i'm wrong!

Very true, the rider also sits bolt upright under braking to act as an air brake.

Your thinking of the Super street bike class. Stretched Busas etc

The funny bike class is a good one to watch, any fuel (nitromethane) that makes your eyes want to bleed must be good Laughing

Nitromethane is some dangerous stuff:

Nitromethane was not known to be a high explosive until a railroad tanker car loaded with it exploded on June 1, 1958.[2] After much testing it was realized that nitromethane was a more energetic high explosive than TNT, although TNT has a higher velocity of detonation and brisance. Both of these explosives are oxygen poor and some benefits are gained from mixing with an oxidizer, such as ammonium nitrate. Pure nitromethane is an insensitive explosive with a VoD of approximately 6200 m/s, but even so inhibitors may be used to reduce the hazards. The tank car explosion was speculated to be due to adiabatic compression, a hazard common to all liquid explosives. This is when small entrained air bubbles compress and superheat with rapid rises in pressure. It was thought that an operator rapidly snapped shut a valve creating a 'hammer-lock' pressure surge. Nitromethane can be sensitized by adding a base to raise the pH.
Nitromethane can also be mixed with ammonium nitrate, which is used as an oxidizer, to form an explosive mixture known as ANNM. One graphic example of this was the use of nitromethane and ammonium nitrate on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building at Oklahoma City.
It is also miscible with concentrated nitric acid, forming an explosive composition with similar power and sensitivity to nitroglycerin.
