Is the above hard? Looking for a new headlight but don't like any of the universal ones really. If i got a Kawasaki headlight for a Suzuki, would it be a lot fo trouble i.e soldering, relays, needing wiring diagrams etc? i'll give it a miss if it is. Smile

not sure what most bikes use for headlight bulbs but its normally only going to be a 2 pin or 3 pin bulb. 2 pins are one filament and the 3 pins are 2 filaments. so all you would need to wire in is a ground, hi beam, and low beam. or just ground and low or ground and high, whatever the light is doing.

and you wont need to worry about increasing the cable size or using relays unles your adding lots more bulbs. even if you just add another 1 or 2 wouldnt be any different.

Just check if the main bulb type is the same. If it is then there is no electrical work needed.

The worse that can happen is that you need to solder in a different bulb holder, three wires max.

Bump!

I think i know what light i'm going for now, think it's universal & it looks like it's got 3 wires with bullet connectors.

Haven't took my standard light so would it just be a matter of cutting off my standard plug & then soldering new wires to old?

Thumbs Up

Mine was 3 pin and I changed headlights and just guessed where the wires go. High beam is now low beam and vice versa but it works Laughing

Three options according to the level of bodgery you wish to work on.

1. Cut off bulb connector, solder and heat shrink to new wires.
2. splice into original wiring and leave original connector on, 'just in case'.
3. Cut off bullet connectors and fit spades, push these into the original holder and tape up to stop them falling out.

I guess I'm a No.3 man Wink

I am a number 4 man. I cut the wires and taped them to the new bulb holder with gaffa tape.

Thanks people,

I don't mind a bit of bodgery myself so i'll first twist the wires together until the new light comes on & operates correctly, then i'll either solder them in place or use some crimp connectors.

Don't mind about the low/parking beams. Always use high anyway night or day.

Just wanted to ask,

I've bought the 2 headlights, both have 2 bulbs in & both have 3 wires. Do i connect 3 wires from the first headlight to the second & then connect the second to the stock headlight harness? (3 wires) Sure i don't need some kind of relay for this?

What's the best way to connect the 2 headlights together, should i just splice the wires together?

Cheers.
