Reading around, seems like quite a few of us have had our fair share with the police.
I just thought it could be interesting/'cool' if we could post some stories in this thread about our various police incidents.
I've been pulled over three times.
Once for doing 55 in a 30 and twice for a "routine" spot check.
I didn't go to court and got let off the fine and points (somehow!)
I was then pulled on a 125 with a passenger and no L plates. It was my bike but I was riding on a CBT. I had my L plates under the seat.
They pulled me over, checked my licence (and the bike) then asked me to open the seat. My heart went into my throat at this point. They asked about the L Plates and I said I had just popped to the shop to get my mate some for his car.
They then let me go on my way. I drove off very nervously and then saw blue lights emerging from where I had just left, so foolishly I jumped the lights and went for it down a side ally. Waited a bit, saw the police drive past a few times (I was well hidden) and then drove home ASAP (with my friend).
I never did that again!
Second routine stop, I was 2up on a 50 (legally this time!) but I was pulled by 2 cops on bikes, 1 guy and 1 woman.
He was an a$$hole. He didn't believe me at all when I told him I had a full moped licence and begun to give me a ticket. I was becoming more annoyed but calm, the misses (who was with me) OTHO begun to cry (I think just the nerves and whatever)
At this point the female officer took her to one side while I dealt with the twat man trying to convince him. The woman officer did a check on my licence and it came back that I had a full moped. She told the twat and he was surprised so double checked and asked the radio guy "does this mean he can carry passengers" the reply was "well, it says full moped, so if its a moped; yes!"
I've also been pulled in a car with no insurance and a fake tax disc but was let off the hook.
I must have a trusting face or something |

I've run into the cops several times always been quite nice to me
1. Pulled out on an undercover cop in a scooby, with a shopping bag in my mouth chasing my mate on his ped. The cop followed me home and gave me a bit of a telling off, but ended up just talking about bikes
2. Overtook a car in a 30, car was doing 30. 2 cops stood down the other end with a speed gun. They waved me in and I thought "bugger". Apparently the speed gun didnt lock onto my bike so didnt know what speed I was doing, although they knew the car was doing 30mph. Slap on the wrists and off they sent me on my way
3. Pulled over doing 47 in a 40. Cop was really nice, hardly mentioned the speeding sounded like he just wanted to talk about bikes
4. Pulled over at a stop and search, without L plates, Tax or insurance. Just checked my licence, didnt twig I needed L plates and just let me go without a word. I went home and got tax insurance and L plates mind you
Had several run ins in town whilst wankered and they've always been nice and reserved despite me talking utter bollocks to them about the universe for several minutes ____________________ Flounced - Long overdue

I got 'stopped' for riding without a lid on my RD350LC. I had ridden up and down my street (a cul-de-sac) on my LC to test the carburettor settings I had just sorted.
The Policeman entered private property to find me, and then asked me why I thought he had 'stopped' me, even though I was off the bike with a screwdriver in my hand wearing mechanics overalls adjusting the bike.
I stupidly mentioned that I had ridden up the street with no lid, and he gave me a £30 FPN. He checked everything. License, insurance, MOT, Tax, the bike registration and had a good old look over the bike. I think that being I was in all other regards 100% legal, and had not done anything that I wouldn't do on a pushbike that he should have used his 'discretion' to let me off. But no, it was clear he had a target to meet, and meet it he would whether or not he could find anything else wrong. He seemed disappointed to find that I owned the bike and that I was fully licensed and insured and the bike was 100% road legal.
He kept saying things like "I'm a biker too you know" and yet he knew nothing about bikes whatsoever so that must be something they are told to say I guess... ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

Was on the outside lane of the m4 doing 90, looked in my mirrors before overtaking, nothing behind me, while in the outside lane i checked again, police car right on my arse! He must've hit it hard as he was no where to be seen 5 seconds earlier.
Overtook the car moved over to the middle lane to let the police car pass - was in the middle lane for what seemed like 20 minutes knowing there was a car to my right, i just didn't look!!! (was about 40 seconds it just felt like 20 minutes!)
I finally looked over, and sure enough there he was, waving his finger at me, telling me to slow down, i nodded and he sped off.
Lucky was an understatement. ____________________ If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough. |

Only time I've been pulled was on the ZZR, traffic was dawdling along at 40 or so along a nice clear and open NSL single carriageway, nothing was coming the otherway so I dropped a couple of gears and got past the 4 or so cars that were in front of me, went round the next corner to find out why nothing was coming the otherway, there was some random police checkpoint setup stopping traffic, and unsurprisingly after my enthusiastic overtake, I got tugged
As much as I'd have love to argue the point as to why I got pulled, the look on her face was a pretty clear warning that it wasn't worth the bother, one usual 'blahblah we don't want to scrape you off the road blahblah' lecture later and I was on my way again. ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |

Only ever been stopped once, And that's because I couldnt get away.
Was on the M4, getting chased by an unmarked BMW at 160mph. I had Dam_buster on the back. The TLR wouldn't go any faster than 160 twos up.
And the BMW wasn't getting any further away.
So i called it quits and pulled over. Got away with 3 points and a £60 fine. Which was an absolute blessing.
Other than that, I've only ever made off. Few times have been proper chases. Few times have just been where I've passed a cop car doing triple figures and just not slowed down.

A few considering I haven't been riding that long.
1) Went to the shop for tabs but couldn't get parked so I got pissed off and ragged up the street. Got to the one way system ring road and ragged around it doing 50 in a 30. Straightened up and went to shoot down the road and a copper jumped out infront of me and I had to do an emergency stop. He gave me an ear full about being a penis and let me on my way. Worst part about it was I had passed him before I started speeding and hadn't seen him.
2) Popped to halfords for some 2stroke oil. There was a police car parked outside over from where I parked. They watched me walk in, buy the oil and walk out and fill the bike up. I then put the tank down, got my helmet on and started up. I went to pull away and they stopped me. I didn't have any L plates on and they just asked me and I said the back on was eaten by the tyre and the front one was attached to the mud guard which was smashed when I was reversed into. They let me off telling me to get some.
3) Was running late for work so I was speeding a bit to get there. Looked up and saw there was road works and temporary traffic lights. I give it a hand full to make the lights before they turned red and passed a police car parked up, she pointed at me and then come after me. I shot through the lights but by the time she caught up the traffic on the other side had started to come through and there was only one lane so she was stuck. I would have been 3/4 of the way to work by the time she got through the roadworks.
Theres a fair few more but I can't be bothered to type any more. ____________________ Current: Honda Nsr 125

I haven't been pulled over for about 10 years now (touch wood)!
I did have a close call last year on the ZXR. Came out of a set of lights on a roundabout at normal speed, dual carriageway in front of me was empty all the way along it and there were no junctions for anyone to pull out of, so I decided to open her up a little to clear the cobwebs!
Well, gave it some beans past a fiesta, then a black Volvo, took her upto about 120 ish, looked in my mirror and saw the Volvo behind me with it's blues flashing! Yep, unmarked car!
Anyway, I rolled off the throttle expecting him to pull along side and wave me over, but to my surprise he switch the blues off and followed me down the the next roundabout. When he pulled along side I lifted my hand as if to say sorry, and he gave me the thumbs up. ____________________ ZXR750R (M2) - For the road.

Once in nearly 3 years of riding.
On the fzr, mate following on his gs125, being utters cocks, bouncing off the redline, he goes through a redlight, after it changes i persue through traffic filtering at around 30ish with standstill traffic got near sainsburys and theres a little cul de sac straight so i gassed it got to about 80, slowed and pulled a uturn slowly riding back up the road i notice theres a copper stood in the centre of the road with his car blocking the exit,
Told me he had a honda gsxr600 ha, mug, that my exhaust isnt legal and kept looking for not for road use markings, (which i had filed and polished off that morning so i knew there wasnt) and then let me on my way! ____________________ Past: '05 Peugeot XPS '99 Aprillia RS125 '94 FZR600R

Took my cousin pillion when still on L' Plates, took the L's off and took him pillion, Got done.
Got done for defective brakes (should have challenged it), the copper was a big f*cker and could just push my bike forward when applying the front brake (when I was 17).
Done for speeding SP30 fixed penalty, 85 on a nsl road (although the copper reckons I was doing over a ton )

Many moons ago i bought a brand new Suzuki DR125.
i had`nt even owned the bike three months when i got stopped on a "routine" check
mr plod then asked me if this was my bike? "yes officer you will be able to tell that if i give you my name and address and you do a PNC check."
i gave him my name and address he did a PNC check and it came back in my name .
" can you prove you are who you say you are" said plod, "yes officer, would you like to see my license?" i showed him my license!
"so you`ve got insurance then have you?" says plod.
"yes officer i happen to have that on me as i have used it as a document to prove to college where i live, would you like to see it?".
plod then checks my insurance certificate.
then the icing on the cake , " ok smart-arse now you just need to show me your MOT"
now i am losing patience as i have been stopped for about 15 minutes.
I tell him politey but firmly that he should know that a brand new bike does not need an MOT when it is only three months old.
i tell him that if there is nothing else i would like to go please as i have done nothing wrong.
plod replies "you can wait there sonny while look over your bike"
he then gets a tape measure out and measures my L-plates .
"Oh dear me, your L-plates are six and a half inches by six and a half inches when they should be seven by seven"
"i am going to report you for failing to display the correct L-plates"
five and a half months later a court summons drops through my door regarding the matter
i choose to plead guilty by return of post and get three points and a ten pound fine
and they wonder why some people just hate them ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |
