 |
|
Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone could help me, I have a 2004 Rieju MRX 50, its got a minarelli AM6 engine in it the same as the aprillia rs 50 so im hoping someone will know what im on about ! Anyway its had a 70cc cylinder kit put on it and i took it to a bloke after a few weeks of buying it because it would randomly just bog down for no reason he said it was the head gasket so i got him too do the head gasket jumped on it took it for a spin and it still bogged down so he kept it too have a look and said its your carb pulling in air through the choke inlet on the carb as the choke was removed so i bought a choke lever and plunger set and he fit it started up first kick no problem took it for a spin and it still bogged down so he said the only other thing it can be is the exhaust (original, rusty, crap) so i bought a fancy new sports exhaust and de-ristricted it and put that on myself took it for a spin it didnt cut out so i went for a long ride and bam it cut out again ! so another friend recommended a new unrestricted CDI unit so i bought one put it on and it still cuts out, i took it back too the bloke he stripped by carb down for the 4th time and he said the jet needs too be higher but after he stripped it it ran like a beauty for 2 days pulling cleanly, and then on the 3rd day of loving my bike not having to be on the side of the road kicking the damn thing over it cut out on me so after all this money spent i still have a bike that cuts out, im just not sure weather to change the jet or buy a bigger carb id prefer too do the jet but what would it be upgraded to ? Its a Dellorto PHBN12 HS Carburettor and its currently jetted to 72 but that was before the exhaust and CDI and have been told it will need to go up anyway because of the exhaust and CDI. Sorry for this rather long boring post but im hoping somebody will take there time too read this and offer some advice and if that person is you, thankyou very much it is highly appreciated. |

It will have a battery, all the generator does is create the spark, the battery runs all the lights and what not, there isn't a vehicle on the road without a battery, it needs it to work ____________________ Previously owned: Kawasaki KH125, Suzuki GP125, Suzuki GX 125, Honda CB125 TDC '83, Honda ntv 600, Kawasaki ER5, Kawasaki ZZR600, Aprilia RSV 1000 Mille

Hmmm wouldn't have anything to do with the revs I spose, I take it you've checked the fuel pipe make sure it's not blocked anywhere, oil pump maybe but I can't see it being that, could be the timing?? That has something to do with the generator ____________________ Previously owned: Kawasaki KH125, Suzuki GP125, Suzuki GX 125, Honda CB125 TDC '83, Honda ntv 600, Kawasaki ER5, Kawasaki ZZR600, Aprilia RSV 1000 Mille

I would try the HT lead and plug as said earlier. It may be sparking ok but it all changes at higher revs and under load.
And sack your mechanic too. |

Try the HT leads and plug first, as it's the cheapest option, if it's not that then your safe in the knowledge you won't have to do it for a while, how much money have you spent on it so far? ____________________ Previously owned: Kawasaki KH125, Suzuki GP125, Suzuki GX 125, Honda CB125 TDC '83, Honda ntv 600, Kawasaki ER5, Kawasaki ZZR600, Aprilia RSV 1000 Mille

have you thought about the plug-cap? as some have a resistor in them? and that can break down and cause a few sparking problems, it may only show itself at higher revs or when the engine is fully warm and been running for a while?
the exact same is true of coils
just an idea ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

have you even done a plug chop yet?
run it till it bogs and as soon as it does, clutch in kill it and have the spark plug out. then check the colour.
dont bother replacing things till youve tracked down the problem.
so, it bogs down under load. but not always. and sometimes it cuts out.
firt thing to do is have a good look at your ht lead. make sure its not damaged anywhere, then make sure its routed so it doent touch anything metal.
have a good look at all the contacts going into the cdi unit, make sure there clean and well attached.
if there all ok, take it out, and when it cuts out, open the petrol cap, while listening for any hissing / vaccum noises.
does it have the stick airbox? is the air filter clean and ok?
what ratio pre-mix are you running it on? |
Yes it was tan like it should be, HT lead is in good condition not touching any metal. All connections too the CDI are fine as i have only just replaced it. Not sure what you mean by the stick air filter but iv had it out and cleaned it all thoroughly with petrol and oiled the filter. Im putting in 125ml Castrol TTS in 5 Litres of Super Unleaded Petrol. |
