Does anyone else get it where the palms of your hands, especially your thumb muscles start to ache after around 20 minutes on track? It's always happened to me, even on bikes with high handlebars.

Yes, I used to get this. You need to relax! You are gripping the bars too tight without realising it.

Some sessions I need to tell my self "RELAX"! I have no idea why I tense up, but relaxing make a huge difference on how I fell after each session, and you go quicker too! Wink

Worked for me! Thumbs Up

Yup, as above, you are tensed up, do you get achy forearms too? I used to anyway, I started to relax and became smoother on the bike, which equates to more speed! Thumbs Up Very Happy

Mine wasnt from lack of relaxation (could have been a little bit, was my first time on the bike in 6 months with new everything) - but my problem was that my brakes are terrible, even though theyre as fresh as can be.

Hence I (its my style anyway) four finger braking hard and late into corners takes its toll on my hands, and clutching in quickly on the way down does too (new heavy duty clutch, noticeably heavier! haha)

So yeah, at first my hands were in absolute agony but got better over the day, no idea how, I just got into a better rhythm really.

Aye, not sure what it is to be honest - I've done it for the past four years of trackdays. I only thought about it the other day because I realised I clench my teeth together whilst going round - something which I always do when concentrating.

My brakes and clutch are also quite heavy like Fawbs', I'll try to chill the fuck out next time I'm out, and see if it makes a difference Very Happy

Never been on track but I have noticed that sometimes on the road i find the pad bit at the bottom of my thumb aching like fuck, is this what you mean? As soon as I realise I relax my grip on the bars and shift back in the seat so my knees fit nicely into the grooves of the tank so I can grip better with them, that stops it pretty quickly! Unfortunately as soon as I brake hard I inevitably slide down the seat again and the whole cycle starts again!

If your doing it right on track, your legs and thighs should be aching and not your hands

I need to get fit again because keeping up with the speed I was setting meant that everything ached Laughing

I got off the bike at one point, put it on the paddock stand and fitted the warmers and then just fell over backwards in the garage and closed my eyes Laughing

(best feeling in the fucking world)

Yeah, plus everyones different.

Im riding round on an 11 year old bike that whilst mechanically fine, has seen better days. The modern bikes feel so much more together, smoother and easier than mine its unreal.

Not sure what you ride Mark, (cba to check if its in your sig) but I do get hand ache sometimes, it was less noticeable as the day went on.

I am also generally unfit at the moment, which Im hoping to change.

Cadwell in 17 days. Mr. Green
