try putting a little fuel down spark plug hole and see if she runs for a few seconds, then checck fuel tap, fuel lines, check jets in carb arent blocked, check reeds are opening properly, check battery, check all of this then get back to me

Try bump starting the bike,
i know this dosnt sound like it makes much sense but for no
perticular reason my nsr is not to happy starting on the starter at the moment (will crank over for ages but not fire)
however give her a push, drop the clutch and she will start up the second i drop the clutch (dosnt make much sense really lol).

Sounds like there is a restriction in the fuel getting to it.
If there is a blockage or tap isnt open (my experience) etc then the engine will fire up and rev up to maybe k1 but then just die off...

I know it dosnt help much but i'd suggest looking at fuel getting to the carb however, does the engine idle normally or does it sound different (deeper/hollow). can you rev the engine atall? throttle response?

open the throttle and it just makes a louder noise but not effect the throttle by any chance?

Certainly sounds to me like fuel not getting to it Neutral

Got that many times forgetting to open the fuel tap after first getting her heh.

Check fuels getting to get,
get onto nsr.co.uk and pick up a manual, take pictures and throw up a post around here if you have any troubles!

best regards

I wouldnt have thought that the 2 stroke asda oil would stop the bike from running, it may cause the bike to blow up if its been run on it hard for a while but shouldnt cause starting problems...

What are the symptoms at the mo.
Is the engine firing, trying to fire or just turning over with no signs of life?

Sounds like it needs new piston and rings. I have had 4 bikes that did exactly that due to the rings being fudged.

How did you test the compression? Did you use a compression tester?
