After braking down last week, I replaced my regulator today and thought all would be well. Fitted it and the bike started up fine. Hooked up the volt metre and it was reading about 12.5V on idle and 15V when revving - that's about right, yea?

Washed and polished the bike ready to go out and set off. 10 mins down the road the bike started to choke and it cut out.... left it for a a couple of minutes and it fired up but sounded almost like it was misfiring. This continued all the way home, with the bike cutting out more than 6 times! When it was running it was lifeless and had loads of flat spots.

What's wrong with it!

There is plenty of fuel in it - I checked before I went and it was full to the brim. When I opened it lots of air spurted out and some petrol too, could this have anything to do with it?

Sorry for the long winded post, I just want my bike to work! Sad

Thanks in advance,
Steven

You sir, may be a genius! It did feel as if it wasn't getting enough fuel or air. I went out and one of the breather pipes (the smaller one) was kinked at the top. Maybe that's what the problem was... only one way to find out. Be back shortly Smile

No worries, it's always nice when a problem turns out to be something minor.

This may also be the first time that a kinked fuel tank breather has actually been the problem.

And quite possibly the first time someone as mechanically inept as me has been able to help someone.

Although there was a big clue in the problem description.
