honda cg problems

Hi

Ive got a 2002 honda cg 125, its kick start only and it runs fine but it wont start unless i use the choke.

anyone know why this is?

Do you mean it just wont idle? Most carbed bikes are like this. Just keep the choke on for a minute or so till it idles without dying.

no it just wont start at all without choke.....and when its cold its very hard to start even with choke....thought it could be compression problem? i went to do the valve clearence and the engine was quite easy to turn over by hand

Check the Spark Plug Colour and Air Gap. 0.8mm or 0.9mm.

If not plug related then maybe the mixture is too rich/weak.

Check the air cleaner is clean before you phanny about with mixture though.

To Start:
1) Choke on full.
2) Crack the throttle open 1/8".
3) Hoi the engine over on the kick-start. It should fire first kick.
4) keep the throttle open slightly for a few seconds then let release it and the engine should continue to run.
5) Switch the choke off after about a minute and the engine should run a a very low idle speed.
