Evening,
On my rear fairing, a plastic bit has snapped off & it was used to connect the fairing to the bike. I've got 2 types of super glue but pretty sure it won't cope with the amount of vibrations & bumps of riding.
Any other household products i can use to secure it? I've got a heat gun & various crap lying about. So couldn't i melt the connector on somehow?

Ther eis stuff secific to repairing ABS (What all good bikes are made of) 'Plastex'. It's a white powder (Like Talc) and a clear liquid.
You wet the part you want to fix with the liquid then skoosh the white powder into it. It makes ABS I think and is as strong as the parent material.
It comes with a bit of plastic to use as a mould to replicate parts too.
about £30.

Even better

SORTED!
Halfrauds are selling a similar stuff too but not sure £££???.
The trouble with the solder iron approach is that you can easily overheat the material and it then becomes brittle.
Temperature control is a bit critical.
Glue won't make a molecular bond and it is only it's adhesive property that does all the work.
If it is a load bearing area then best use proper repair stuff. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

get a jam jar, put a teaspoon or 2 of acetone (nail varnish remover) in it, then drop a lego block (see colour coded this shit is) into the acetone.
when the lego block is melted, use the goop to make your repair and leave it to dry overnight in a warm place.
Job done.
Cheers
