hi all,
i just picked up a ccm604, the sm version.
someone had attempted to steal it but was caught in the act,lol
anyway, it came with the keys etc & is all legit.
but basically, when i turn the key nothing happens.
i have put a freshly charged battery in but the would-be thief has attempted to hot wire it.
on the back of the actual ignition barrel, there are 4 (conveniently numbered 1 to 4) prongs, onto which 4 wires slot on, by means of crimp terminals.
problem is, i dont know which wires go where!
the wires are YELLOW
BLACK/with white tracer
BLACK
BLACK
the wire with the white tracer, i touched the red probe of my multi-meter to & the black probe to earth & i got 13v.
thats as far as i got, before i start randomly connecvting wires,
any ideas on how to wire it properly?
or by pass the switch alltogether?
i know, this is, in effect, asking how to hotwire a bike, so please feel free to PM me,
cheers,
GAZ

Wiring diagram often helps, but if you don't mind living dangerously and perhaps exploding something (hopefully just a fuse) -

1) With nothing connected to anything else, try start the bike (kickstart?)

2) If you need power to start the bike, try and find a dead short between one of your remaining 3 spare wires and either one of the two terminals on the brake light switch (I'd suspect the yellow wire). Then connect your live (black/white) wire to that wire. See if any of the lights etc. work, if they do try to start the bike.

I got lucky, first 2 wires that i touched together & it powered up!
no wonder bikes are so easily stolen, lol
stilson grip to remove the collar & pull out the full ignition switch & join 2 wires together & the bike powers up.ffs.
next problem, find out where the 4 wires are supposed to go!
oh, & find out why the starter solenoid is just buzzing loudly.
cheers,

solenoids "buzzing" is usualy a sign of a low battery?

yup, bike didnt have a battery fitted, so i tried an old 10amp thing from my vfr700,forgetting that it hadnt been used for a while.
a couple of hours on the trickle charger & the bike started 3rd or 4th press of the starter button. Very Happy not bad for a bike thats been sitting unused for 4 or 5 years.
think i got a result, seing as theres only 700km's on the clocks, 1 previous owner & its been dry stored, so shouldnt take much to get it ready for mot.
sounds good with the remus can, though a bit loud for my taste, lol
now just need to find out what type/size of battery it SHOULD take, as this one is physically too big.
i can figure out how to wire in the ignition switch later.
cheers,
GAZ

also make sure you cover all electrics with wd40 regualy as they dont like the wet
