Engine Tuning

Hi guys,
I had my bike tuned at Hilltop Motorcycles near Leicester, by Geoff. It has really transformed my bike from being really bobbley at the bottom end to being lovely and smooth! He also mannaged to increase the power output from 75bhp with 80ftlbs torque, up to 100bhp with 145ftlbs torque at the rear wheel! Its a completely new bike! Its a really nice shop and he will show you exactly what he is doing, with a window to where he runs the bike as well, so you can see your own bike running! Would highly reccommend!

What was the bike? how much did it cost? what did you have done?

80-145lbft of torque sounds like BS to me, short of Turbo/supercharger.

The bike was my '02 BMW GS1100. I was amaised myself! It cost me £320, but money very well spent! What he does is he sorts out the fueling and ignition and all that. Its like putting a power commander on, but he can do it with the original ECU. He would be the best one to talk to really. The mods that I had done were a straight through exhaust. The only thing I can reccommend is that if you are interested then give Geoff a ring. Your not going to believe me, but maybe if you see it for yourself with your own bike.

they are the specs of the bike, in 2002 it would create 80 bhp (rear tyre 74.3 hp @ 6600 rpm)

intrested to know if the hp was made at the rear wheel or the flywheel??? if so what else has he done

The figures are at the rear wheel.

The things he did were fueling, ignition, and a firmware update. The BMW engines seem to have a lot of pwere there, but BMW tune them to be low emission so they lose a lot of power. I was reccommended there by Rainbow BMW where I bought the bike. He tunes all sorts of bikes.

calling bollocks, either you're plugging his shop... or you are SERIOUSLY naive and have no clue about how engines work.

25bhp is doable, but a torque increase of that much is bullshit

Hi

If it made 145ft/lb then that would be at 3700rpm at most if it made 100hp (145ft/lb at any higher rpm would give more than 100hp).

Although no way would almost doubling the torque be realistic just from minor fiddling.
