i have finally brought myself to buy some new discs for my zx6, posted a while ago about the kagizume discs with mixed response-with a 1 tear warranty i am happy (if they are that bad they will go in a day or two and i will get something branded).

basically the pads i have on have loads of life left in them, and i can't really afford to for out another £50 new ones (hence why i bought eblag discs), do i need to change them?

only experience i have with brakes are on my downhill mtb, and for that a light sand would do the trick if at all anything.

thanks

dan

i'm pretty sure they are clean. they have a mild squeak when they brush one area of the disc. other than that they are very good, s bike gets used regularly and is great under fast and harsh braking.

basically the current OEM discs are warped. which sounds worse than they are. low speed is horrible especially coming to a stop, high speed they are awesome, but an MOT failure

Well... Any manufacturer or dealer or good mechanic would recommend new pads on a new disc.
The pads 'fit' them self to the contours of the disc in service.
But... If you are happy that there is enough meat on the old pads then why not?

So long as they are in good condition and have sufficient material to get you to the next inspection/service interval then I would reuse the old ones.

But run them in as you would New Pads on an old disc.

I'd take it even easier than usual if using old pads. The high spots on the old pads won't match the high spots on the new discs - for the first few miles, you'll have very little pad to disc contact compared with normal, especially under light braking.

I don't think they can hold you to that. There is a European court ruling on Manufacturer warranty blackmail from a few years back.
Something like..
So long as a recognised mechanic has fitted OEM parts warranty is still good.
Perhaps the warranty on HIS labour is not covered.
