i have recently replaced the engine in my cr85 but it has no spark...

so i was wondering what the proble could be and how i go about solving it,

as it doesnt have a stator jus a pick up and ignitor

would i check for an AC voltage when kicking it over at the coil to tell me the ignitor is dead if no voltage is present or a fault with kill switch or if i do get a voltage this would tell me coil is dead...

Did you fit the electrics from your old engine?

If not do you still have access to them?

Even motocrossers should have a coil behind the flywheel to supply voltage to the low tension side of the ignition system, so if your aying you have no stator coil that is most likely your problem.

I would check the a.c output of the stator first as you may just have a bad earth on the stator plate, the kill switch would be my next suspect.

If the bike ran before the engine swap it is probably just a wire on wrong or bad connection somewhere.
