Just watched 'kerbside justice' on men&motors and they had a bloke with a bike with a cd attached to the front.
They started talking about how the cd is a class 1 laser product and the speed lasers are aswel. The theory is that the laser is messed up by the cd?!
Sounds like bull to me. ____________________ "because one stroke isnt enough and four strokes waste two" |

i think so
the camers guns are radar? guided? so anything moving through an area will reflect the beam back, the time it takes to bounce back is calculated to give a speed reading??
i think so anyway ____________________ Bikes owned :- 2001 nsr125, 1999 zx6r, 2006 yzf-r1, 2009 xmax 250, 2012 yzf-r1, 2015 MT-07

I love boy racers!!
Mobile speed detection in the UK is pretty much all laser, they don't use radar at all, except in fixed units such as gatsos and mini-gatsos. Scamera vans use laser. Stealth radar cloaking devices are useless. I did see one boy racer who had imported from the States one of those anti-radar bra devices, fits all over the front of the car bonnet and grill to make it invisible to radar, or so the manufacturers claim. Unfortunately the only radar used in speed detection generally in the UK measures off the rear of the vehicle as you drive away, so sadly he's wasted his money and looks a twat as well. Gave me a giggle though.
CDs in your grill to reflect camera flash is also useless, the only units that flash are gatsos and they take you from behind. Since they are equipped with very high quality hasselblad medium format cameras the police can enlarge the picture and adjust the contrast of the print, and still read your plate easily.
Truvelos flash infra-red light from the front, but they'll still be able to read your plate, and the speed detection is done by magnetic or pressure strips on the road surface. Laser traps don't flash at all.
CDs won't confuse laser guns, if anything the perpendicular reflective surface will actually improve the performance of the laser gun!
The only device that will stop laser from getting your speed is a laser diffuser - a device fitted on the front of the vehicle that fires a bright burst of light at 905 nanometers - the frequency laser guns operate at - when a laser attempts to lock on to you. Since the emitted light is brighter than the laser reflection off the front of your vehicle the speed gun attempts to read that instead, and fails to work out your speed. They are a bit naughty though, there have been two sucessful prosecutions by police on the grounds that you're obstructing them in the course of their duty. |

I suppose the only possibility of a pilot being presented a warning would be something like an attack helicopter (apache for example) that has been fitted with a Laser warning reciever. The pilot would still have to manually engage the target.
I would also think that military radars are much more complicated than a simple gatso radar unit. e.g. the Radar warning reciever in a military aircraft would know the difference
My (also highly likely to be inaccurate) |

| A news site wrote: | The Scottish highlands have some roads so perfect for sports-car enthusiasm that certain drivers are regularly tempted into exhibitions of speed. Complaints by the citizenry have brought the presence of radar police, who often lurk in hidden valleys to detect their prey. One such unit was on-station when a Harrier jump-jet suddenly appeared at the far end of the valley and flew toward it.
The officer, curious as to whether his equipment could record the aircraft's speed, pointed and activated his radar gun. The Harrier, test-cruising in full battle configuration, detected the radar pulse and instantly 1) armed a Sidewinder missile, 2) electronically focused it on the radar gun's signal, and 3) began its own automatic firing countdown. Fortunately, the pilot caught and aborted the firing sequence with 1.5 seconds to go, saving all of the following: the police officer, the squad car, the radar equipment, international headlines, the pilot's career, and one Sidewinder AIM-9M missile worth $500,000.
