No spark

I have no spark at the plug on my scooter, i have tested the plug in other scooters and it works fine, and i have also tried different plugs in mine. what could be the problem?? my scooter is a Peugeot Speedfight 2 50cc. thanks

Check the HT lead, and if it's got a working reg/rec unit.

Is the wire inside the HT led broke?

Is the battery flat?

How do you know it doesn't have a spark? How did you check it?

Are you using the electric start or kicking the scoot over?

Generally you check the plug, check the plug cap, check the HT lead, check the connections to the coil, check the coil, and finally check the pulse generator. If all these pass then the only thing left is the CDI.

the battery is fine as i checked it in other bikes, and i checked the spark, first by putting the plug ageinst the engine casing as i kicked the kickstart, and i even resorted to putting my finger over the plug as i kicked it, just to make sure. and the electric start dont work anyway. thanks

Seriously, do you have any idea how many thousands of volts run through those things. OK, so there may not be the current there for 'burn potential', but the jolt and your hand flying away could get caught on any number of items. Dead easy to rip a finger of like that Exclamation

Sounds like you need to check through your electrics,starting at the ignition switch and making sure you have voltage to each part of the ignition circuit. Then you can start looking at the alternator and other parts of the HT system. You will of course need to have access to a multi meter and know how to use it.A wiring diagram would be real good too Thumbs Up

yes, i do know how many volts run through the plug lol, i made sure my hand was away from anything, and i did it once i was certain that there was no spark. okay i will try this. its just that the horn works, which means that there is power form the battery, but there is just no spark at all.

But if i remember right, these have the Immobilisers fitted. So you can't start anyway unless the Immobiliser is off!

Yeah i know that it has an immobilizer, its intergrated into the CDI, and it seems to be turned off as the light is off. is it more likely to be the CDI/Immobiliser or the Coil??
