Honda CG 125-BR: power problem.

Hello.

Since my post of engine help with the bike smoking, i have fitted a new Air-filter ( old one was totally destroyed ) and i replaced the Gasket at the top of the engine, where the valves are, i also reset the valves to the standed Honda Clearance in the manual.

All been going well, but recently started rattling at top of engine where the valves are, and has lost a bit of power, and i can hear a rattle noise, and kinda getting worst.

What should i do? or what could it be, could the valves really need doing again now it has a new gasket it on and air filter ?


So recent things i have done :

Valves clearance reset.
New Air Filter.
New Gasket ( old on was allowing oil to leak )

recheck the valve clearances, i assuming the valves pushrod assembly has worked loosed since you adjusted

i`m just guessng here? .... but it sounds like you did`nt tighten everything up as per spec when you reset the valves?.
it sounds like something has worked it`s way loose?

on the other hand! is it the right air filter? and is it put in right?........ because if that is collapsing when you are running the bike or opening the throttle, that will affect your power output.

these are just a couple of ideas that i would look at if that bike was mine.

checked air-filter that fine, and yep correct air-filter for the bike as order by dealer.

ill reset or check valves tomorrow see how that goes.

Are they locknut tappets on the valves?

I once adjusted mine, was sure I'd tightened the locknuts properly but I got the rattling and then massive loss of power.

When I had a look inside, one of the nuts had come off and got crushed.

I hope it's not as bad as that for you.

Yes lock nut type, had a look this morning everything looks OK, has to put all back together as lost my feeler gauge that i used to set them.

poping to dyrons this morning at 10:00am to but some new ones if they sell them.

All I can think from past experience is when I had slightly bent valves ( just before they became very snapped valves ) and they wouldnt close fully. Lost power and rattled in the guides. If you need a second opinion or another set of hands I'm not to far from you.

I have done the valves, there spot on but rattle still there and feel it throw the handle bars ?

Know what this could be ?

Does the tone of the rattling correspond to engine speed? i.e. does it rattle much more if you rev it, or does it just stay fairly constant?

Yes i slid the bike down at 30mph as mentioned in other thread.

The noise is high pitch and gets worst faster i go and horrible when iam cruising at 60mph.

It a high pitch wine and a rattle, not so bad when in low gears and slow speed like 30mph you just hear the little rattle.

Dont know what it is.

30mph ok 40 start to feel the hard vibration coming on and sound 50 the bike is shaking, 60 the shake goes away but the revs are screaming and rattle ans wine is loud.

I have a video from a ride out other day, ill edit it and pop it up on here and you can listen to the bike and tell me what u think.

Besides this, from doing the vavles and setting them back to normal the bike can now rech over 60mph ( on the speedo )

Did you actually change the head gasket, or did you do the rocker cover seal? It wasn't clear in your original post.

First things is, does the noise get worse with engine revs, or with road speed? If road speed its likely to be the speedo drive not being in properly.

Valve clearances too tight will cause it to be hard to start and cost you power. Clearances too big with result in a fast tapping noise from the top of the engine, along with a small loss of power. Put a screwdriver against the top of the engine and put the handle by your ear, works a bit like a stethoscope and will help you pin down the noise location.

Tappy and from the top = valves.
Wirring and from one side = cam chain.

Ah the newer ones are OHC, but i see from his sig he has one of the old ones.
