Going to be getting my nc30 engine back from the tuner soon and intend on painting it black.

But I cant for the life of me choose wither to do it in gloss or satin! I'm after a more factory modified kind of look to the bike, would gloss be too gaudy I wonder?

Anyway, thought I would get you chaps opinion Thumbs Up

Yeah a good VHT paint will do the job. You probably knows this already but I've been told several times not to paint the fins on the engine as the heat can't disperse as easily.

Not an issue with an NC30 as it's liquid cooled. You can paint the fins on air cooled engines as a thin layer of black VHT paint will probably help disperse the heat. Powder coating is a big no no though.

How do you paint the engine? Stripping off paint etc? Have to fully dismantle the engine?

Is there a heat proof paint in between gloss and satin?

And there is no way I would paint it brown, just wouldn't work with the rest of the bike.

To do a good job, in my eyes yes. My engine is pretty far stripped down.
